Not thru malfunction, but thru rageWith me, its 3, but none since like 2004First was in NBA Jam way back when it first came out on consoles...my bro beat me on one of those underhand full court heaves and I flippedSecond was a few years later playing Gran Turismo...I kept finishing like .4 second off the last license challenge, so after the 50th time I was just like fuck it, controller ===> wallLast time was in the dorms at State, playing Madden, up with just a few seconds to go in the game and fucking Rich Gannon runs for an 80 yard TD to beat me, with his 55 speed...biggest bullshit I've ever seen...I threw it on the GROUNDI know some of you temperamental fucks have some lol stories...share 'em

Four playstation 2 controllers in a time span of 5 months.

Nah, no video game controllers. But...I broke one TV remote in October 1999 and one in October 2000. I was drunk both times. It wasn't my fault though. It was Kenny Rogers' and Armando Benitez's.[Edited on October 6, 2009 at 9:38 AM. Reason : x]

I've never broken a controller out of rage. The were too strong back then. You could drive over one with a car and it would work.I did break the cartridge casing to the SNES version Street Fighter 2. I TIGER KNEE SMASHed a hole in it. Of course I electrical taped the thing back together and continued playing. The only controller I've ever had to malfunction was the gamecube controllers. They stopped working but sometimes they would start working again months later. They were completely flaky. They never took any abuse either. I guess the controllers or ports just sucked. Every other controller for other systems I've owned have lasted for the complete duration of the system.[Edited on October 6, 2009 at 9:57 AM. Reason : -]

I cried for days when they bastardized Princess Toadstool's name to Peach.
10/6/2009 12:48:25 PM
I think we burned through about 3 or 4 N64 controllers on Mario Party or any game that requires you to ROTATE THE JOYSTICK!!!
10/6/2009 12:53:45 PM
One of our accounting guys at work (listen to me, I sound like Slave) breaks PS3 controllers all the time.I think I've only broken one, a PS2 controller when my brother direct snapped one time too many on NCAA 06.

i also used to smoke rolled up paper in my friend's backyard because i thought smoking was cool. and look at his dads playboys and shoot his bb gun through the neighbors windows. he got in big trouble for the last one.

I broke a Sega Genesis controller, but it was third party.Nintendo products used to hold up notoriously well, until the 64 (joystick powder issues) and Gamecube (internal integrity was lacking, also a weak Z-button). I feel like I read that the Wiimotes have survived floods, but I'm probably wrong. The original PlayStation controllers were also incredibly tenacious.

i have not broken any but...a former roommate (and good friend) has really bad gamer rage and has thrown a keyboard out a second story window.
10/6/2009 3:17:01 PM
i threw a keyboard and monitor out of the eighth floor of metcalf, but not out of rage.we used to throw all sorts of shit out of our window. basketballs, frozen fruit, glass bottles, computer equipment....... so much fun as a freshman
10/6/2009 3:19:16 PM
That is awesome. Also, my brother has several marks and crevices from controllers being thrown at it. It's one of those late-90's TV/VCR combos with the thick glass.[Edited on October 6, 2009 at 3:20 PM. Reason : .]
10/6/2009 3:19:22 PM
Thought about it on several occasions, but usually have enough self-control to not throw any controllers. Now, Domino Rally on the other hand, setting up that thing put me into a rage on several occasions.
