I moved to NC when I was 10, so I have lived here for over 2/3 of my life.

But all of my family is still in PA, other than my mom and sisters.

as someone with split northern / southern heritage, let me answer this:


you might be considered a southern boy to northerners ... but you will always be a Yankee transplant to southerners. no matter how many seconds of collard greens you eat at Aunt Letha's house.

the closest you'll get is if you marry a true-blue southern belle, buy a house and settle down and raise your kids to be good southern kids. then they might escape the stigma. but still, someone will tell them at some point, "yeah, but your daddy is from Pennsylvania"

Well, technically the Mason-Dixon runs through PA, so at least part of the state is southern.

The Union state status, however, makes them give up all southern rights and they only retain redneck and white trash rights.
