What is up with that auto repair insurance where you pay a monthly fee to have them cover any repairs for free? That sounds like a rip off. Why pay probably more than $100 dollars a month when you could just use that money to pay for the repair yourself?

Getting rear-ended would fall under your regular auto collision insurance, assuming you have paid for uninsured motorist coverage.

He's talking about the scammy infomercials on t.v. where you pay them to cover things like busted transmissions. It's designed to cover mechanical failures, not collisions. They are a total ripoff in every possible way. They will not cover all that they promise, and you are seriously overpaying for even the crap they will help you with.

**I'm curious why TroopOfEchos will never purchase a MagicJack - we've used one for 2 years now, with no problems whatsoever. And for unlimited local/long-distance, no monthly bill, caller ID, call-waiting, etc....the total bill for two years? $60. That's < $3/month (paid once a year) for unlimited calling with all the standard features. Even if you think the device sucks - it's $3/month for pete's sake.
