that's exactly what i said!

There i was, walking home from the bus, and KUNG-pOW...i saw the unmistakable husks and sure enough, set back from the road about 20' was a chestnut tree....made my day

true...while hiking the AT i saw a fair amount of young ones, but i knew the blight would hit em soon. I did however run across a handful hear and there....wish there were many more around

they are....i'd have to look into it again, but i found a pamphlet in a hostel in CT that talked about it...i believe it's in VA...dunno if they are genetically modified or crossbred or what

If I remember correctly it's crossbreeding but it's been so long since I last read an article about it I can't be sure.

wow so its just a little softer than hickory, sounds like that guy was elaborating a little when he said it would dull your chainsaw in seconds, still pretty damn hard tho.

yeah...compared to the south american species too...lawwwd

I was telling you about that ipe wood...that shit is ...that's the hardest wood i've ever seen (no homo). A lot of wealthy people have their decks made out of it because it's so weather resistant

lignum vitae is the hardest that i know of though
