ALL I REMEMBER IS MY SISTER WRITING AN ESSAY AND HAVING TO READ IT IN FRONT OF A BUNCH OF PEOPLE TO TRY AND GET A SCHOLARSHIP WHEN SHE WAS IN HIGH SCHOOL.

I THINK THAT'S THEIR ONLY PURPOSE. TO MAKE HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS WRITE ESSAYS AND TO GIVE OUT A FEW SMALL SCHOLARSHIPS.

I'd think it'd be viewed less like that, and more of a signal that someone gives a damn about "pedigree" and "society" and "status" and "society"

its not..way to do some research

neither are the "Sons of the Confederacy" which several of my family members have joined as
we have a ton of ancestors that fought for the Confederacy. SOC is a historical club mainly and they participate in reenactments and attend memorials for fallen confederate soldiers when grave markers are laid ... stuff like that

I don't think a social organization looks as good as volunteering.

Especially since so many of them use philanthropy as a way to make it not seem like a club for grownups.

This is why I asked why you think it'd look good on a resume.

I am also eligible to join this, or the Eastern Stars. My grandmother kept all her paperwork, so I just essentially have to copy it. Yay for detailed family trees.

yeah, my father is our family genealogist

he has done lot of research on our family tree and found many of our ancestors old graves from the 1800's and had the government send grave markers to protect the burial sites of those that fought in the for the confederacy.

the dedication service for laying those markers was a pretty cool event to be apart of.
