How can one find out which speed limits are registered? The reason I ask is that the speed limit sign disappeared for about a year on a certain road I travel frequently. When it was replaced it had gone down 10 MPH. I've always wondered if that was legit, a mistake, or some local yokel who wanted people to slow down on his road.[Edited on October 9, 2009 at 3:08 PM. ...and on that note; a friend's dad (police officer) once told me that speed limit signs posted in parking lots, such as the ones found in mall parking lots, are not legally enforceable. They're more like "suggestions"

^^ they're registered with the county, i believe...not sure where, i'll ask the cop that told me this stuff

^eh, more like a cop doesn't have traffic enforcement jurisdiction on private property

^ same freaking thing

I thought they could ticket you as long as it was "private property for public use" (i.e., the mall parking lot.)
