Percocet is a wonderful painkiller. I used to take it daily for my chronic pain, but had to stop taking it because of the tylenol in it (dangerous to have too much b/c of the effects on your liver). Now, I take just oxycodone.

^What did your dr. give you? And What happened to your leg? Some docs are really stingy about what painkiller in particular they prescribe. I used to hate that. Oxycodone is what works best for my pain issues.

They still give "legitimate" prescriptions from a real doctor in broward. They won't be able to doctor shop though starting next year sometime.

Still open season this year though!

Oh, i am so sorry to hear about your problem. I fuckin' hate Tramadol...I seriously feel like it was as effective as popping a tylenol. That shit isn't even a controlled substance either...at least, I don't think it is in NC (but don't hold me to that).

Yeah Tramadol is no good. Tell your doctor it isn't working and they should bump you up to Percocet or Vicodin.

If someone is in extreme pain, Percocet would be the better choice, over Vicodin.

I want to make it clear I am not a "druggie" at all. I have genuine, chronic pain problems and I am trying to offer advice to those who need it about painkillers. I'm not trying to argue or whatever, I just want it to be clear I am not using painkillers for recreational use.

hydromorphone is the only thing even close. my sarcasm detector didnt go off, but i could be wrong.

you guys are seriously ignorant about painkillers

with the exception of a couple:

the post a few posts up about the differences btwn oxy, perc, hydro, and vic, etc
and
the post saying that mallinkrap generics are for some reason inferior to the real deal.

to the person who takes oxycontin/oxycodone for "pain management", i guarantee that you that when your current doctor loses his license or dies, you are in for a world of hurt. you may not be a street buying junky, but you are an addict. denial, denial, denial.

this pretty much proves it, when dr tww shows up they will confirm that ultram is prescribed for one of 2 reasons, really light pain, OR to suspected drug seekers. calling it tylenol pretty much tells me what category you're in

and i have a pretty big problem with a drug addict in denial giving advice on whats good and what isnt

^You have some nerve trying to call me an addict. I go to a PAIN SPECIALIST for my pain. When I first took Ultram/Tramadol, I had only taken Percocet several times before due to wisdom teeth extraction. I have a chronic pain illness that hasn't responded well to many treatments due to the severity of the pain. When I went to this pain specialist, I had never in my life been on Oxycontin, which is a time-released form of oxycodone, and it has worked wonders for my pain. I highly doubt this is the only Pain specialist/clinic that prescribes Oxycontin for my condition. So, quit acting like a smart ass know-it-all, get off your high horse, and don't assess my case based on very little facts.

Well... I found this:

http://www.tramadoladdiction.net/

Which makes me think that its not the benign drug you describe.

^ Doesn't really matter WHY you take oxycontin... It is highly addictive, so if you've been taking it for a while now, then you can pretty much write yourself off as an addict at this point. Now, whether or not you're an addict for a "good reason" or not doesn't really matter to me. I'm not going to argue with you about your "pain"

i know what the fuck a PAIN SPECIALIST is. you can sit there all day and tell me shit that i already know about pills, but the fact remains that you are a junky. you're the one on the high horse, at least most junkies admit their addiction.

i guarantee you that if you are seeing a "pain doc" and are on oxycontin daily, and have been for some time, then you are addicted, and you are in for a rude rude rude awakening when you can't get it any more. that's all the facts i need

go ahead and prove me wrong and stop taking it for 2 weeks.

^ people take ultram in high doses when its the only thing they can get their hands on. its not so much that it gets them high, more that super high doses can kill off some of the withdrawal symptoms that come with long-term opiate abuse

You are telling me it is highly addictive, as if I did not know this, or my doctors. I have been through the absolute hell for over a year now trying to deal with my physical pain, and it took months to get it diagnosed. Label it whatever you choose, but I take the pills as prescribed and do not go over my limits. I have only been on Oxycontin itself for 2 months, but have taken Percocet/oxycodone for over a year on and off. That being said, I don't think anyone has the right to sit here and judge or label me based on very little information that I've given. I feel no need to sit here and tell you my health problems.

AMEN

and we can read between the lines, it took you 2 months to get diagnosed. you mean it took 2 months worth of doctor shopping to get a steady oxy hookup.

i'm not trying to judge you in some kind of bad way, i'm trying to help you wake up. i went through detox for a very very severe opiate addiction... and about 90% of what i took was prescribed to me, right up until the very end when i got into buying shit from other people and using heroin.

i dont think you're a bad person at all, i just think that you're in severe denial. which is a classic sign of an addict. and yes i can say this, ive been through drug counseling, and i myself am a drug counselor. i only do it one day a week now, but i still have all the knowledge. i'd NEVER say any names on here, but plenty of tww people have come to me about themselves, their friends, or their families looking for help, and i helped them. they can come forward and vouch if they want, but i won't drag them into this. my point is that i do not think you are bad, i just hate to see people go down this road blindly just because they're getting it "legally"
