torrents are hit or miss, too. You wait 4 days for an HD torrent to download, and then you get it and whoever ripped it didn't know what the fuck they were doing, and it's all fucked up.

mostly, this has is what has gotten me to stop pirating. Netflix is cheap enough to where it fully offsets the hassle of torrenting.

[Edited on October 11, 2009 at 10:04 AM. Reason : and of course I rip every movie I receive. ]

i agree that a lot of rippers out there have no fucking clue what they're doing. the guys who rip HDtv usually cant fuck up ripping from a tuner, so i have no problem with TV

for movies, you can use vcdquality or just download the sample 2 minute clip to decide if it looks decent. if not, use the OMG RIP OFF RED BOX

You using dialup, motherfucker? Of course, I never download anything illegally, but if I did a standard definition movie would take about 10 minutes to download or less than an hour for an HD movie.

you're joking, right? there's not a tv out these days that doesnt have some sort of hdmi, sv, dvi or at least vga input. its not like we're sitting around watching movies on 15" crt monitors and little 2" speakers anymore

What pisses me off is spending time downloading a movie only to discover it's been dubbed over in Pakistani or something.

i usually just

1) search "[enter movie/music title here] torrent" in google
2) compare the top 4 results for what i'm looking for, weed out sites that look too spammy
3) compare # of seeders
4) make my educated decision

^^ Nielsen's Law makes me not like that idea. It's not a viable business model.

listen i have a 55" tv and still choose to watch torrents on it.

if a movie is actually good then i'll go to the movies and watch it because i'm not a cheap ass, but if i'm just watching something to kill time because i am bored then i'll get a torrent.

you can get amazing quality and have two or three different films from which to choose in two to three hours.
