You're absolutely right. You never have to jump to catch a football, jump over some one diving at you, or jump into the endzone on the goal line. I'm sorry.

Now that I think about it, vertical jump is so pointless in football... why do they measure it at camps? They should stop doing that. Everybody knows football is played no more than 2 inches off of the ground.

I didn't say its not good, but there's no reason it should make us invincible as the OP implies. If you go around jumping over people all the time it slows you down quite a bit, and you get dropped hard if someone catches up with you.
