I saw this the other day outside of Washington, GA. I almost wrecked the fucking car. It was a regular cross-walk, with the yellow struttin-pedestrian sign. Only below it, in a small rectangle, it said "Deaf Child". WTF. Was that really necessary? Is there anything special about a deaf child crossing the road that can't be accomplished via the regular school crossing?

sign say a dumb thing
10/20/2009 9:53:38 PM
You have to be super cereal careful when deaf kids are involved.
10/20/2009 9:54:25 PM
it lets you know that they can't hear you coming like normal kids you god damn idiot
10/20/2009 9:54:29 PM
It means you can yell profanities at them for being fuckin' slow and it's okay.
10/20/2009 9:54:30 PM
you should've laid on the horn
10/20/2009 10:05:41 PM
It was probably near a school for the deaf. Durrrr.
10/20/2009 10:19:04 PM
ridiculously stupid questiondo you think a car horn produces sound waves strong enough for a person to feel?
10/20/2009 10:21:33 PM
you mean everybody doesn't have earth shaking horns?

I have a deaf kid in one of the classes I teachand we're supposed to read this "Students with Disabilities" statement to the class a week before every test...I always read it super-fast because it's long and stupidI read it so fast that the deaf kid's interpreter wasn't able to translate it into sign-language on the fly, so the deaf kid didn't get any of itas a result, he came up to me the day before the test and tried to explain that he needed special accomodations or some shit, and I was like "Sorry, it's too late...you should've taken care of this a long time ago, as I mentioned in the Disabilities Statement I read to the class"
10/20/2009 10:25:41 PM
^ wtf school is this that requires something like that?
10/20/2009 10:33:35 PM
what kind of accommodations could he need on what i presume was a written test?
10/20/2009 10:40:06 PM
^^ a public university that I'd rather not reveal^ I dunno...you wouldn't think deafness would affect one's ability to take a math test]
10/20/2009 10:40:14 PM
It'd be hilarious if it was some academy for deaf children.
10/20/2009 10:40:17 PM
Public university eh? It's good to see that they're taking responsibility away from the students with dumb crap like that. It should just be a blurb in the syllabus and that's it.
10/20/2009 10:42:33 PM
aaronburro, you are officially fuckin retardedi have no respect for youits just like when you ride through a neighborhood that has a sign sick person, its fuckin precautionary that you not drive through blarin a bunch of bullshit music and its no real inconvenience for you to not operate your vehicle like a recklesss jackass in any neighborhood, much less one that has a deaf, blind, or sick individual within it[Edited on October 20, 2009 at 10:45 PM. It's obviously to let you know why honking the horn might not get the kid's attention. It's not hard to understand. When I was younger I got cussed out a lot by people riding their bikes on the sidewalk behind me because I didn't hear their retarded little bells dinging at me to get out of the way. Same principal, pretty much, if we can't hear, we can't hear you trying to tell us that you're coming, and kids aren't always the best at looking before they cross the street.
11/5/2009 2:54:07 PM
Yes, but in general, what does honking the horn accomplish, anyway? Pretty much nothing.
