Judged by me and two people to be named later.

Grand prize - Blue Ribbon and $20.
Runner-up - Yellow Ribbon and $5

Let's set some rules here:

1. Minimum of 15 entrants
2. Pumpkins judged on originality, creativity, skills, etc. I'm not discrediting stencils, but I'd like to see original pumpkins.
3. Must post pic of pumpkin, and I have to see the pumpkin upon announcing it as one of the winners and handing over the prizes.

I think that's it for the rules. This should be a tradition done every year!!!

i think you should make the entrants have their username in the picture (like it has been done in the past)

and possibly some time sensitive material (N&O, WSJ, etc.) so you can't use last year's pumpkin.

i'd like to carve a pumpkin, but i'd feel kind of like a schmuck going to the pumpkin patch by myself and then carving one alone. None of my IRL friends have expressed any interest in carving this year.

once you carve it just soak it in cold water, dry the surfaces, and then apply a thin layer of vaseline over it. It'll last another week or so.

As a judge, I unofficially push the deadline to friday, noon. That way ppl can check for winner before heading out friday.
