Why or why not?

I don't...I always feel like I'm more exposed if I sleep with my door open, I also lock it too.

open

I live in a 1 bedroom... there's really no need to shut the bedroom door as long as I shut the front door

yes

I don't even think there's a lock on my bedroom door

there really isn't ever a reason to even shut any door in my house besides my bathroom, and exterior doors

no

i did in high school because there was an attic fan in the hallway so i needed the door open for the fan to pull air in from my windows

i do not feel secure at all with the door open for some reason--i used to sleep with it locked, but stopped doing that when i mostly stopped sleeping alone

My parents would always get mad at me when I would lock my bedroom door at night.

Have a roommate now, so door closed. When I lived in my own one-bedroom apartment, door open.

when i had a roommate, it stayed closed.

Since I'm by myself, door open.

In the past when I had roommates, door closed.

i kept it closed when I had a roommate

now that I live by myself, it keep it open all the time. Allows the air to circulate better and the apartment stays evenly heated/cooled.

Yes

Always have slept with the door open but I was an only child. When I lived with other people I still slept with my door open, unless I had someone over. Plus the dog can get in and out

always have had roommates, so yes

when i had a cat, she would would go nuts if the door was closed, so i had to leave it cracked. When it was open, she never went anywhere, but once the door closed, she suddenly wanted out. Dumb cat.

I think the locking my door comes from growing up in a house where a shut door means nothing.

Usually. I have a 2-bedroom, but live alone so I just leave it open. Only time I don't is if I have guests in the other room or living room.

Don't really see a point in closing it if I'm alone.

i used to not be able to sleep with it open (anxiety like - major)

but now that i have cats i sleep with it open so they can come and go, but i crack it and put a pillow behind it so it is cracked the same amount every night (ok so i take medicine now but i'm still kind of anxious/ocd)

but usually when i wake up to pee at like 4am i kick them out and shut it

I don't have the abundance of door that you people do. I do well to keep my only door shut.

I used to not shut the door when I lived at home, and once I went to college and would come home on weekends I wanted to sleep late. My parents and brother would make noise downstairs so I'd just shut it. Now that I've had roommates, the bedroom door was always shut. I live in a 1 bedroom apt. now and still shut and lock the door out of habit.

Most nights it starts open so my cat can come in. Many nights it ends up closed because he's annoying me. Some nights it starts out closed if I know I don't want him to wake me up or if there's someone else with me.

When your door is open, you can always see them coming. It's safer than being blind to the attack.
