i added this guy from my english class on facebook the other day... we've talked a bit and shit, so it's not like i don't know him... and we have like a metric shit ton of mutual friends.

i was on one of my friends' profiles a few minutes ago, happened to see that he had posted something on her wall, so i clicked his name and saw that the "friend requested" thing had changed to "add to friends."



i can't think of a way to ask why he doesn't want to be facebook friends without sounding completely creepy and shit, but seriously? i'm not that horrible, am i?

you could mention an event that you are having and then say I'll just send you a facebook invite... and then request to add him again. That's how I would do it at least.

Plus, Facebook is the most disingenuous social media device to date, don't let it define you. If someone adds you, or does not add you, it should not matter. It's a sea of lies no matter what.

LinkedIn is actually much more realistic, in that, you would never add someone you did not work with, for, etc. There are no acquaintances or random adds of LinkedIn. Granted, it's for professional purposes, but you see my point.

That is what I'm thinking son. I have always hated facebook because of this actually, I'd look at my friends list and realize that very few people on it were actually people I could lean on for support. Very few were people who would ever be there in times of need. So, I said fuck it and I deleted the account. It just doesn't do anything for me really and it actually made me unhappy a lot of the time.

I think it's pointless to have all of these people on a list, especially when you aren't going to talk to them again and they don't even care about you.
