I was unaware that there was a USPDF. I've got to give it to these women, they are some serious athletes:

do they use score cards, or do the judges just hold up ones, fives and ten dollar bills to determine the winner?

This is an example of why I don't get why so many women are deathly afraid of strength-building workouts. These women are strong as hell, but are they She-Hulks? No. They are hot.

Jenyne Butterfly, the last one they showed, does the most impressive stuff in that video, both from a strength point of view, and grace. (and difficult twists and spins)

These women have more core body strength than the vast majority of men in the world.

Simply impressive.

See! This is why I have a pole in my dining room. It is a SERIOUS workout. That's how you get a great core workout. And it's fun.

Pretty impressive

I wonder if they lube up their thighs, it seems like they would have to to avoid burns and chafing.

you're kidding right? if they lubed up their thighs, the wouldn't have any friction to hold them on the pole.

Yep. If you want a great body, you will be well served to work out "like a man". Doing a few sets of two dozen reps with such little weight that you aren't even straining isn't going to buy you much.

Lubing your thighs is a terrible idea. It actually helps to wear thigh-high stripper boots bc it helps you grip the pole better.

In short, yes. Additionally, most girls will use a hand degreaser to remove the moisture from their hands for better grip of the pole.

hey lucy, what kind of pole did you get and how much did you spend? I stopped doing it a few months ago because it got to the point where i needed a pole at home to get any better but i can't put hooks in the ceiling and the other ones are ~380

Jen, my pole was 300 bucks. It's totally worth the money since most classes are around 15 bucks a pop. My girlfriend and I are starting a business where we teach pole lessons at home for bachelorette parties. It's an investment that will totally pay for itself.

Does anyone else find it ironic that the clips ends with the line "Save me from the nothing I've become."?

I think the poles are free to rotate.

Also, lube would make you slide down the pole, rather than twist around the pole. Think about gymnasts. They chalk their hands for better grip, but still manage to spin around the uneven bars.

Pole dancing is great for former gymnasts, cheerleaders and springboard divers.
