Other brands do need rinsing. That is the brand they carry at HT though. Food Lion doesn't carry it (I don't think). Trader Joe's does but they are out of it 90 percent of the time. I love it.

Try http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Quinoa-and-Black-Beans/Detail.aspx with some salsa. <3

I get my quinoa from the grain bins at Whole Foods. I usually boil it for a few minutes until it looks like there is a little tail separating from the grains. Sometimes I'll eat it plain with salt like rice. Other times I'll scramble an egg, sautee some tomatoes, throw in a bunch of spices, and mix that in with the cooked quinoa.

It is very healthy. It is loaded with protein and it's one of the few grains with the amino acids required for your body to actually use that protein.

Not bad. Can be used as a rice substitute. Flavor is kind of nutty, in a brown rice sort of way, but the grains are small like couscous. It is supposed to be quite good for you.

Anybody know the name of that porridge grain?

Rye
Barley

Teff
Quinoa
Amaranth

Some of the most nutritious grains... the last 2 (maybe last 3) are complete proteins, which is extremely rare for plant origin foods.
