11/6/2009 9:15:04 PM
if you're gonna do a steak and you don't have a grill, pan sear it by alton brown's method. it's awesome.
11/6/2009 9:16:38 PM
^ that i can do!!now i just need sides!
11/6/2009 9:17:52 PM
broil it to his tastes...basically:watch it. turn it often. watch the edges to make sure they're not burning. listen to it to make sure the crackling of the steak isn't too sharp or loud.5 - 20 minutes depending on how done you want the steak
11/6/2009 9:18:06 PM

Sorry, kadwhackle, I think I ruined this thread for you.Personally I would want surf and turf, a baked potato, then maybe asparagus or possibly some kind of vegetable medley. Pie for desert.
11/6/2009 11:14:15 PM
Tossed Salad
11/6/2009 11:16:32 PM
Anything my woman cooks for me is awesome.I do have a weakness for filet mignon, asparagus, loaded mashed potatoes.Broiled salmon with dill is a big winner with me.Any pasta dish, and Steph makes an awesome one. She also does an amazing spinach salad with balsamic vinaigrette and bacon.Or on the simple country side, country style steak or meatloaf, squash, and butterbeans is a real meal that I really love. But I am easy...the only thing I won't eat is stewed okra. She told me the other night that I'll know she's mad with me when she makes stewed okra. But I'd just sit there and force myself to eat it if she did, LOL.
11/6/2009 11:19:41 PM
Hmmm.... Friday night, eh?I'd open with the boiled shrimp - fresh, not frozen. (boil in salt+cayenne pepper)Come in with the fresh salad (Romaine+crouton+cheese+dressing)Hit him with the thick-cut steak and potato (make it a sweet potato, with the brown sugar/butter combo)Wrap it up with ice cream. Never eat the ice cream, just play with it - if you're getting the drift.Sounds great to me anyway
11/6/2009 11:21:20 PM
ok ok okwhat about steak, baked potatoes (with the works, cheese, sour cream, butter, bacon, etc), anddddd caesar salad?(and i think i'm getting filet cause that is the kind i like best)[Edited on November 6, 2009 at 11:25 PM. Reason : .]
11/6/2009 11:24:29 PM
I mean, he's not going to complain...but you've got to realize... you're serving the man steak and potatoesIf he likes salmon, I've got a great recipe for you
11/6/2009 11:29:40 PM
(he doesn't like seafood. ugh. it is his one downfall)is steak and potatoes bad?
11/6/2009 11:30:12 PM
no seafood? what a shame steak and potatoes isn't bad... but to me, it's just all but extraordinary. the norm. beef + potatoes (tasty, but an everyday thing).[Edited on November 6, 2009 at 11:33 PM. Reason : or am I missing what you're going for here?]
11/6/2009 11:33:14 PM
11/6/2009 11:36:24 PM
Do you cook his steak better than him?
11/6/2009 11:41:30 PM
false I thoroughly enjoy a great cut of steak. I still think that beef is kind of the "standby" meat to cook. How about a stuffed pork loin?
11/6/2009 11:43:08 PM
^^ uhhh i don't know cause he doesn't really cookyea, i guess steak and potatoes is kind of not that extraordinarybut he doesn't ever eat good meals, so i think it will be ok!i thought about making pork. actually there is this yummy pork recipe i wanted to try but i needed to start TODAY on it andddddddddd that didn't happen.
11/6/2009 11:46:40 PM
A good steak might be a standby to some, but some of us don't get to eat it nearly often enough. The last steaks I cooked were on the 4th of July.I still think it's a great idea. And if you do the potatoes right, they're a huge treat. Go with it. RUN with it...your man won't be disappointed.
11/6/2009 11:50:21 PM
yea i never eat it. he eats it more than me but i don't know the last time either of us had it. so i'mma do that. cause i know he will like it!
11/6/2009 11:55:08 PM
sweet potatoes > baked potatoes, just saying
11/7/2009 12:31:31 AM

11/7/2009 7:34:47 AM
11/7/2009 9:56:35 AM
well damn- as long as it is filling and not some vegetarian type thing, it would be good... I don't know what yo man likes though, so I can't comment- I personally like things that have some sort of tomato or cream based things (ie: italian or mexican)
