i was more embarrassed than anything, i was shaking like a mother just from the fact that i was freezing and having to do a sobriety test is naturally unnerving but at least he was laughing at my jokes

yes there was at least a drop of alcohol in my system, i would have passed a breathalyzer i'd bet, and i realize everyone in the world who gets pulled over for a dui says this but I wouldn't have gotten in the car if i didnt think i had 100% of my facilities. im applying to law school and im unemployed so i have to be smart about these things. i was at fosters (first time there) and its the easiest place ive ever seen to catch a cab so i really did plan to stop drinking early on in the night so that i could leave at 2 in my own car.

no i know i just realize how often someone who drinks and drives says "im ok to drive" when they're clearly not

i dont even drink that often, it's probably been at least 2 months since ive touched alcohol so im very conscious about when and how much

good news is he said the registration citation will most likely get dropped if i take care of it before the court date, but he said i cant take care of it beforehand which im sure means theres some court fee they want to hold onto for dear life

they will drop it if you bring the paperwork in

if its one of those that your time to appear is a range like 7:45-3:30 then basically you just walk in, go up to a desk, and the da will toss the ticket

yep.. i was in court in chatham county last week for something else but they had someone literally walking down the line of ppl (yes, a line, they didnt even have a real courtroom..) asking if it was registration related. if it was and you had proof you fixed whatever was wrong they dropped it on the spot

its been stated but yes, bring the updated registration paperwork into court, show it to the da, case dropped

now i havent tested this out, but you could try bringing it into the clerk of courts sometime before your court date and see if they'll take care of it, wont guarantee that they can, but its worth a try

the clerk of courts are pretty much the only people in the whole courthouse that have a clue as to whats going on

lol just got pulled for the same exact thing

this conversation took 10 sec
"license please"
"here you go i got pulled 6 days ago for the registration"
"do you have the ticket"
"no"
"we dont have a way to tell, but get it taken care of and have a nice night"
"thanks"

so PROTIP, if you get pulled for a registration just say you already have the ticket at home and hope he doesnt write a ticket

No, seriously, wait a fucking second.

You're applying to law school and you seriously thought "facilities?"

Jesus Christ.

YOU HAVE FACULTIES, NOT FACILITIES.

You can go dictionary.com that shit and try to argue facilities, but we all know you meant faculties.

FACULTIES, FACULTIES, FACULTIES.

(I'm angry at people applying to graduate school who I perceive to be dumber and more capable/confident than I am.)

Protip #whatever:

Never get into to the car with GrumpyGOP. He will get pulled and ticketed no matter what he is doing. First ticket I ever got was driving home from church, in church clothes, with a fucking Bible in the seat next to me.

I'm white and I've gotten a ticket every single time I've been pulled over. Every time. I have the worst luck ever. I got pulled once for speeding and tailgating, and the cop said he knew I was speeding because the guy in front of me was definitely going the speed limit.

FML.

^that makes no sense. if you were tailgating a guy going the speed limit, then you would HAVE to be going to speed limit too.

^ Of course it doesn't make any sense. The cops that pull you over for speeding and aren't working on real crimes are some of the most ignorant working people in the class. For the most part, cops are just idiots, and look at the logic the dumbfucks who pull you over use.

^^Exactly.

I asked him how that made sense and his response was "ummm... well... just wait here son, I'll be right back." He comes back with a ticket for speeding.

I've only gotted pulled over for speeding once, and I got a ticket. I've gotten pulled over twice for not having working break lights. Both times I was just told to get them fixed. I tried to get them fixed but it turns out my car was just fucked up anyway. The only way they would work was if I would hold my head a certain way a hum a perfect C# while hitting the breaks.

don't blame the cops. they're just doing their job. traffic tickets are a cash cow and their superiors tell them to milk it.

most times they will drop it, but sometimes they wont. especially if you got another charge with it.

only an attorney can go and handle a case before the court date.

so i got up extra early so i could be first in line or whatever and I get in there and there's literally noone but security there yet (7:15ish) so I go up to the second floor and wait around for like 10 min and realize noone is lining up so I head back downstairs and suddenly theres a line of 100 people for traffic court where there was noone before, lol

but i got it dropped AND the DA was a guy I knew from App State so I said whats up i'm going to law school as well and he said let me get you to talk to some people and says he is a recruiter for Carolina (my #1 choice) so all in all it was totally worth it to get pulled at 2am for suspicion of drunk driving and get ticketed for expired registration
