Life is too short to be depressed.

i really don't get how thanksgiving could depress anyone

even if you hate your family, as long as theres good food why be sad?

if you are surrounded by bad cooks then i guess you could be depressed.

I don't know why, but I am almost 100% indifferent to almost every holiday. Guess it's one of those "does it really matter?" kind of things.

and i like food

so i like holidays

(not really easter so much though, cause i'm not really into church. and that is usually an early morning or brunch type of deal and when i have time off i kinda like to sleep/be lazy. no offense, jesus)

werent you the same one that was depressed on halloween?

do you get depressed everytime there is a social situation where people enjoy themselves?

maybe there is some underlying problem?

^^i'm admittedly becoming increasingly anti-social, although its not intentional.

i don't hate my family or anything. its just this time of year seems to magnify a lot personal feelings.

I feel ya, Chop.

I get depressed and stressed around my birthday every year. Now we just keep it really, really low-key and minimal. I do dinner with the fam and dinner with my best friend. Anything more is asking for disaster, and by disaster, I mean me getting wasted and alienating my friends and family so badly that it takes half a year to put all the relationships back together.

But I love the holidays!!!

I hate holidays with a passion.

This year, I'd like to just chill out with my cat. She never causes drama. I may even share some turkey with her.

I like family, food and alcohol. I hate Christmas shopping and I don't like the clutter that I get. I wish we could just hang out and have fun then just buy ourselves stuff if we want it like we do the rest of the year.

This. Having to buy shit and pretending to like the shit others buy for you are the only bad parts of Christmas. I enjoy everything else about it.

My mother, sister, and friends usually ask what I want or notice things I need so I don't have to pretend to like anything they get me. And I am an awesome gift giver so I don't have to worry about that.

Yes! Just give me a list of the people and their interests. I charge 25% of the total cost of the gifts. OR $100. Whichever is more.

^obviously a fresh off the lot 3 series, duh.

when you only see your family 2 or 3 times a year, its scary how easy it is to lose touch. for the past 4 or 5 years we've been doing the holidays at my sister's house in asheville because she's the one married with kids. but i still catch a (generally self imposed) guilt trip for not going to see my grandparents and extended family in vance county. i don't get a whole lot of time off from work, so when the rare free day off comes, i'd rather not spend it driving all over god's green earth (i'm in atlanta). I realize this is a very selfish attitude, which compounds the guilt factor.

coupled with the fact that i really don't have any close friends to really share the holidays with anymore, it makes for pretty blah season.

tww is a blog.
