hahah i actually just started reading an article about the CMA's last night, and look what i came across

Quote :
"Worst Song Choice: The decision of the otherwise-likable Zac Brown Band to perform “The Devil Went Down To Georgia.” This endless story-song was a tedious, show-off-y (look, the fiddler can fiddle really fast!) hit when Charlie Daniels did it in 1979. Brown, giving it the full sweaty-wool-cap treatment, did not improve it. But the ostentatiously sweaty effort got the band a standing ovation anyway."

honestly, I thought it was terrible last night. You don't screw with an icon, you just do it well and thats enough. It lost it's swagger by blazing through it.

ok i gotta agree with this

Quote :
"Best Over-The-Top Moment: Carrie Underwood performing “Cowboy Casanova” in a massive production number that featured a bordello-red backdrop, back-up dancers dressed in black bustiers, and Betty Draper’s fainting-couch from Mad Men. Arising from that sofa was Underwood, who wore a long white peignoir that revealed what looked to like purple sequined hot-pants. To make sure we noticed these, Underwood pushed her pelvis at the camera as though it was a snow-plow."

whatever, i think they did a great job with it. i was shocked when i youtube'd around and found that this is the same band that did that "chicken fried" song.

^^^ oh, i get what you're saying...kinda like how sometimes, say, Yngwie Malmsteen can be impressive as hell, but not worth a damn to listen to.

but no, I like what they did with the CDB song.

OMGZ I CAN PLAY MY GEETAR REAL FAST

any session/backline guitar player in nashville can play faster, better, and cleaner than zac brown

but they won't, because they know it's fucking lame

oh no shit, that's not why i like it (although it is refreshing to see someone in the nashville country scene who can play worth a shit these days).

reference my yngwie comment. i totally get what you're saying, dude. i'm a musician, too, remember? I'm just saying that I like this cover.

If Zac Brown could sing, his band might be ok. He's just another no talent fad act that will hopefully fade away soon.
