specifically:

67% of American adults (age 20+) are overweight
34% of American adults (age 20+) are obese

in the past 30 years, these numbers have DOUBLED

And when it comes to childhood obesity, they have tripled in just 10-15 years!

I wonder what the childhood overweight/obesity rates are now in the US.

My estimates:

Overweight: 30%
Obese: 15%

TONS of hams riding those little scooters around about to do eat attacks.

this thread is hilarious to me

Formula for BMI: [weight (lb) / [height (in)]^2] x 703

American males

BMI____________Weight Status
Below 18.5______Underweight
18.5 – 24.9______Normal
25.0 – 29.9______Overweight
30.0 and Above__Obese

since my bmi is > 24.9, i am both overweight and obese at the same time.

wat?

if you are obese, you are necessarily overweight, but if you are overweight, you may not be obsese. if your bmi is >= 25, you are definitely overweight. but you are not obese unless it is also >= 30. is it?

Many health professionals don't use the term "obese" for children so it's hard to find data (on OW vs OB). According to the CDC, OW children are as follows:

12-19: 18%
6-11: 15%
2-5: 11%
