Finals are coming up. I'm actually studying for one right now...imma use this thread to share with you guys what I'm studying and keep my sanity.I've found out that I tend to study best in really, really short increments with my distractions readily available. So ok, Type 2 diabetes is the most common form of diabetes and that is where your body doesnt respond to insulin correctly (in contrast to type 1 which is an autoimmune disease). And there's a test you can get ( A1c eAG) that tells you your average amount of glucose in the blood oin the past few months!! how cool is that?
11/22/2009 1:46:00 PM
coooool
11/22/2009 1:46:53 PM
why do fat people get type 2 diabetes?
11/22/2009 1:47:10 PM
Studying tip: Log off The Wolf Web.
11/22/2009 1:49:46 PM
so ok....insulin converts sugar to energy.when someone is eating crappy high sugar foods all of the time your body literally can be come desensitized to it and your body doesn't respond correctly.it's down regulation i think-which is common in drug addicts. the recptors on the cells in your body-when they are overloaded with a stimulus-they desstrey some of the receptors so that you don't get the same effect.the exact opposite is up regulation, when your body doesnt get that much of a stimulus it starts producing more receptors so that even when you have just a little bit-you get a huge effect.apply that to sugar and blood glucose levels.fat people generally have crappy diets filled with sugar, so its more a correlation that a cause.^you would be amazed at how much more i can memorize when my distractions are in front of me. logging off isn't a good option in my opinion. if i were reading the book, then yeah logging out is preferred.when im trying to memorize facts -no. Dif'rent stokres for different folks, I guess.I have to lock myself in a isolation tank, practically, in order to study. And even then my mind wanders.Damn, I wish I could sleep in one of these:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Isolation_tank
11/22/2009 1:56:03 PM
i think thats my problem too. my mind wanders horribly.im sitting here right now with a bunch of notes i need to have memorized in front of me.i read through some of them. post on here. and then try and recall them.if i cant do it then i need to go over them again.it's like i'm letting my mind wander instead of trying to keep it super focused, and it ultimately helps me.[Edited on November 22, 2009 at 1:58 PM. Reason : i'd flip out in that tank.]
11/22/2009 1:57:52 PM
type the shit you need to memorize out and post it in this threadthat way you are learning two fold, reading it and writing it down, as well as playing on TWW multitasking ftw

IGT or IFG positive5. history of cardiovascular disease^overly simplified is OK for the most part.im not trying to do a diabetes genomics project [Edited on November 22, 2009 at 2:11 PM. loli wish i had adderall.i have a very, very short attention span, enough to warrant add medicationwhen i talked to my dr about it he said that i had made it to college without it so i should be fine the only reason it irked me was because a lot of my friends who were deans-listers took it.i felt like it was "cheating" [Edited on November 22, 2009 at 4:00 PM. I wish I had them now. My school consists of hundreds of pages of "notes" I have to memorize word for word where one word out of a paragraph is the difference between a 100% and an 85%.

Ach is secreted by the preganglionic neurons in both sympathetic and parasympathetic NS, but by postganglioic in only parasympathetic.that sounds like a test question to me!

norepinephrine is secreted by nearly all sympathetic postganglionic neurons. (adrenergic fibers secrete it, adrenergic receptors receive it (duuuur) )alpha-adrenergic receptors are usually excitatorybeta -adrenergic receptors are usually inhibitory
