and why is that shocking at all?

if rabbits gestated for 200 days, or llamas for a 100 days, that would be shocking.

these, however, are quite shocking:


1) otters gestate for 270-300 days that's longer than or equal to the gestation periods of many animals which are MUCH MUCH larger (bears: 200-250, bison: 270, chimp: 230-250, cow: 280-290, elk: 240-250, gorilla: 260, hippo: 225-250, human: 250-290, moose: 240-250)

HOW DO YOU EXPLAIN THAT?!


2) gestation periods of the big cats are quite short, way shorter than those of humans, and even a bit shorter than those of beavers, porcupines, and domestic pigs!
leopard: 90
lion: 110
puma: 90
tiger: 110

even a domestic goat takes 150 days. and compare with domestic cat (60 days) and dog (65 days).
