since when do they cap the amount of time you can listen to for free?
11/23/2009 12:57:02 AM
Or how many times per hour you can skip a song.]
11/23/2009 12:58:41 AM
I remember when they started restricting skips/hour, but I think they changed it from skips/hour/station to skips/hour overall
11/23/2009 1:00:34 AM
I don't see why we should have to pay for something people spend their lives doing as a profession. I mean I get unlimited refills at the gas pump. musicians should look into thisim astraladvent and I approved this message
11/23/2009 1:01:26 AM
i'm eventually gonna cave in and just buy the service, but not before I've complained enough
11/23/2009 1:02:45 AM
i think i'm alonebut i've never been a fan of pandora
11/23/2009 1:03:42 AM
what about free streaming music isn't there to be a fan of? i loved it before it became ad infested.
11/23/2009 1:04:22 AM
i dunno i thought the whole point was it like looked at what you liked and then recommended thingsbut it never does a good job recommending things for me. and everyone always discovers new music on it but i don't. or haven't. i mean i gave up.
11/23/2009 1:06:07 AM
a lot of my stations end up disappointing me, but it's the ones that are successful that make it so good. you just have to try a few and really know what kind of songs you're in the mood for. it usually takes me 2 or 3 attempts each time i try to make a new successful station.
11/23/2009 1:10:27 AM
ohhhhhh i seethat is my problem then. i'm kinda impatient
11/23/2009 1:11:26 AM
good stations for me:-sevendust-tool-queens of the stone age-daft punk-pink floyd-since i've been loving you by led zeppelin-i'm on a boat by the lonely island-crossbreed-static-x-michael bubleepic disappointments for me:-radiohead-my iron lung-all of my rap stations-where it's at-g love
11/23/2009 1:16:47 AM
ahh so we are not talking about the jewelry company that makes the ugly bracelets.
11/23/2009 1:20:52 AM
You went from bitching about pandora to recommending it.What. The. Fuck.
11/23/2009 4:14:20 AM
I've never listened to Pandora long enough for this to happen......Pandora is awesome
11/23/2009 4:15:11 AM
pandora has been my savior at my barfor the first year or so we had to dj by hand with CDs and ipods and whatever we had on hand which was a royal pain in the ass when we were busy, and we became physically sick of everything we hadbut then someone got the bright idea to let the internet handle the dirty work...and it serves us well, even if i have to run my credit card for a buck once in a while
11/23/2009 6:01:32 AM
^you sir, are an inspiration to us all
11/23/2009 6:17:33 AM
[old]since when did napster make you pay for downlaods?
11/23/2009 7:49:34 AM
I used to like it a lot, and then it was like they decided they didn't want me to listen anymore. Counting Crows showed up once on my RATM station.
11/23/2009 8:29:18 AM
I guess I made a couple million on my first playthrough.
11/23/2009 8:41:37 AM
all the stations suck
11/23/2009 8:43:23 AM
holy shit, a free service is asking you to pay money now. omg what a terrible thing!
11/23/2009 8:57:41 AM
Pandora is awful. Slacker is much better, hell even last.fm is better. Take off your rose colored glasses people
11/23/2009 9:03:49 AM
xm ftw
11/23/2009 9:08:24 AM
11/23/2009 9:13:54 AM
you mean NPR?
11/23/2009 9:14:38 AM
69 why are you such a douche?
11/23/2009 9:22:08 AM
11/23/2009 9:32:24 AM
11/23/2009 9:33:20 AM
i've never had pandora cap me off from listening to music and I stream it about 3x a week for 3 - 4 hours. I rarely skip anything, either, but that is because pandora does such a good job of choosing the songs that I like, or could potentially like.i have around 10 stations of varying genre and sound with the end result being a variety of artists and music that represent a cross over of my listening tastes.
11/23/2009 9:33:51 AM
believe it or not Pandora has bills. most noteably, they have to pay royalty fees to the record companies, detailed below. hell Pandora was on the verge of collapse last year. if you listen enough to hit the caps, perhaps you can pay whatever amount of peanuts they're charging for their service. trying to stay afloat != money hungry.
11/23/2009 10:03:00 AM
i still use it for free
11/23/2009 10:58:21 AM
i've tried slacker a couple times, but i'm just so used to pandora since i've been using it for years that I just keep coming back
11/23/2009 5:05:34 PM
Pandora is awesome for playing music in parties that you ignore like 90% of the time until something sick comes on. Other than that it sucks and you should be charged if you even think its cool.I'm AstralAdvent and i approved this message.
11/23/2009 5:07:01 PM
bombs over baghdad
11/23/2009 5:26:59 PM
]
11/25/2009 3:03:50 AM
^that seems like a very reasonable price to me
11/25/2009 3:40:03 AM
Interesting that it doesn't do that on the iPhone app.
11/25/2009 3:47:11 AM
I'm using slacker for the rest of the month. Eventually I'll cave in and get pandora one and get an app on my phone, but right now I'm being a cheap bastard.
11/25/2009 9:10:20 AM
so one can pay $12 a year or $36 a year for unlimited listening? why would anyone choose the 36
11/25/2009 9:17:57 AM
sounds like a good model for tww. you get 1000 posts a month for free, and after that, pay up
11/25/2009 9:25:27 AM
I was aware of this around the end of summer...............................Sooooo yeah
11/25/2009 10:00:29 AM
for 12 bucks you get unlimited listening with ads and the same okay but nothing great probably 128 kb/s. for 36 bucks you get no ads, unlimited listening, higher quality audio, some desktop app, and i think you get to skip. there could be a couple other features but i'm doing this off the top of my head.the tdub equivalent of this would be if the new policy was that you got like 200 posts a month free, 99 cents to have unlimited that month, and 36 bucks to have unlimited posting, no flood control, chatterbox, no ads, access to premie palace... and somewhere in there you get higher quality discussions, but that doesn't happen in chit chat. in premie palace. on tdub so i'm lost as to where that would come from ^this is the first I have been made aware of a limit on listening and i've gone over the 40 before this month, they just haven't been catching me somehow.]
11/25/2009 10:03:44 AM
^ Hmm, that's weird... I alwayssss used to go over the 40 because I would basically leave it on the entire time I was at work then use it at home. They sent me an email around the end of summer for their "high volume listeners" (or something to that effect) saying if you listened to over 40 hours in a month you would get charged $0.99.And I'm a cheapskate so I was like "fuck that" and just downloaded iTunes onto my work computer. Now I get tons of radio stations fo free!
11/25/2009 10:07:07 AM
pandora owns because their formula for picking similar music owns. I have no desire to go to another service and attempt to get a station set up thats as good as my pandora one.
11/25/2009 10:08:00 AM
i'm not gonna download itunes. i have enough worthless programs on my computer. they may or may not have sent me an email, i don't know. i never check the email that my pandora account is attached to.
11/25/2009 10:08:51 AM
itunes is total shit. if you're going to get a player tied to a music service zune player is by far the best.
11/25/2009 10:10:29 AM
Meh, suit yourself. I like iTunes radio mainly for Ambient Popsicle and some Big R Radio stations (Erin's chill, 90's alternative, etc)
