it has lifetime traffic too...

and sometimes there are way too many turns where it becomes dangerous when you're driving and trying to read off a piece of paper....

and also, there are apps on it where you can find places to eat/ go to/ ..... its quite convenient when you go to places you dont know

I prefer the adventure of having no fucking clue where I am, winding up the only white guy in an all black town in southwest Alabama, driving down an MLK Blvd that is barely 1 1/2 lanes wide while looking for a place called Failetown.

or

turning down the wrong road in Rockbridge Co Virginia and getting grilled by a couple of guys for stumbling up on their trailer where they were obviously cooking meth, while not being able to accurately describe where I was going since I'd only been there once before and was visiting someone who was house sitting for people I didn't even know.

I would return it.

This is what is going to happen.

The windshield mount is going to completely suck, its poorer quality than the cheap models they sell at auto zone, your GPS will fall off the windshield all the time.

The charger port will wear out and it will not stay plugged in unless you rig the cord up some crazy way to put tension on it.

The search function will be so pathetically slow you will want to throw it out the window.

I could go on for a while but after buying a Garmin unit for pretty much everyone in my family a few years ago they have all turned to complete shit.

I've had good luck with Garmin units for a long time

Boating, transecting barrier islands, getting around in cities I've never been to

My car's built in GPS is pretty sweet though, although its gay that you can't input addresses while you're riding for "safety reasons"

I've only had it for about 6 months but I've been really impressed by the high end garmin I have in the company truck. It's on a friction dash mount and I've never used the suction cup so I can't comment on that.

I used an app called Telenav on some of my older pre-color Blackberries...It worked pretty well for a phone app.

All phones manufactured after some year have GPS capabilities per some law about 911 calls. They're not generally as accurate as standalone GPS units, but thats generally not as critical if your primary use is driving directions, as opposed to more precise navigation on foot, or orienteering and getting around in the wilderness.

^thats assisted GPS. Uses triangulation instead of a real chip. However, naturally, you need to be in an area with multiple towers. It's also only good down to like 30m or something while a chip will get you in the sub 10 foot range. WAAS service areas can bring that even lower, 3-5 feet.
