i like both but i actually like #2 maybe slightly better

aesthetics. It can help provide a better look to a wall that could normally be done by a picture or something.

functional- it can be held on to during sexual acts. if your head goes too far up you will bump the headboard and not the wall. walls don't take a hit as well as a headboard the majority of the time.

I like the frame of #2 more, but I don't really care for those fabric headboards...I hope it can (easily) be recovered when it gets old and faded looking.
