Must be gaming grade. Must be hardcore. Winter break Aion is a hell of a drug.

ATI 5870Best bang for your buck, and it's top-of-the-line DX11 enabled. That, or you could go 5850 for 100 less, which is what I did. Or an NVIDIA GTX series, whatever.None of these pricks will have anything like that, get one off Newegg. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102857&cm_re=ATI_5850-_-14-102-857-_-Producthttp://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150443&cm_re=ATI_5870-_-14-150-443-_-Producthttp://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&DEPA=0&Order=BESTMATCH&Description=GTX+275&x=0&y=0And Aion ain't going to touch any serious gaming card, get real.[Edited on December 8, 2009 at 3:33 AM. Thanks man. Aion will need a serious card when the new update/expansion comes out.

Oh wait, I just remembered why I posted here:I don't want something that costs a bazillion dollars. bttt.
12/11/2009 4:18:39 AM
Give me a price range then.Better yet, I showed you a good website to do it yourself. It's really the only way to do it!I can weigh in on it, though.

If you can't spend 300-450 dollars, then don't even buy an upgrade--it's not worth the money if you're not actually going to make a worthwhile investment.

Pending your monitor resolution, you don't need a HD5870 to play Aion. If you are gaming at 19x12 or higher, and running the highest details with AA enabled, then you would need something very powerful, and likely in xfire or SLI.For most people, med-high graphics are plenty, and at a more common resolution like 19x10 or 16x10. Cards to look at:ATI - HD4890, HD4870 (xfire), HD5850 (priced from low to high, higher resolution > xfired HD4870)nVidia - GTX275, GTX260 SLI, GTX285 (" ")Personally I would try to stretch for the HD5850. Its from the new line of ATI GPUs, supports DX11, and is based on smaller die technology meaning it will be cooler and OC further. nVidia is due for a new line, but it prob won't be until sometime next year. Best strategy IMO would be to get the best single GPU you can get, because then you can improve performance by going with a dual-GPU setup, instead of being locked into a less dual-GPU setup early.Newegg.com for anything you buy.

I GOT 2x RADEON 4870s I WILL SELL YEyou need to be able to handle crossfire tho
12/14/2009 12:45:13 PM
Yea you need a compatible motherboard and a power supply thats 80+ certified with at least 700 watts. If your looking for something to throw into a store-bought PC, you are going to need a new power supply regardless, I wouldn't risk a $250 GPU with some shitty PSU from Dell or HP...
12/14/2009 12:58:46 PM
This guy is clearly upgrading an older computer and knows very little about GPUs to begin with since he thinks we're going to sell him some monster thing for cheap cheap.I have a suspicion that neither rnz or my suggestions will work with his rig. a 5850 is pretty top-of-the-line, and I suspect that his rig isn't.Also, where have you seen data to suggest crossfiring 4870 is going to be better than a single 5850? I was pretty sure all the benchmarks I looked at suggested otherwise.
12/14/2009 1:49:35 PM
The higher amount of RAM from 2 HD4870 will help with higher resolutions and AA, should he be requiring that. http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/radeon-hd-5850,2433-5.htmlHere is a benchmark with the 5850 and 4870X2 (closest thing to 4870 xfire), they are pretty similar in terms of performance, but the 4870X2 pulls ahead moreso at the higher resolutions.I think this guy just needs to get like a GTS250 and be done.http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130514&cm_re=GTS_250-_-14-130-514-_-Product

Aion really isn't that demanding. I wish he would have given the specs on the rest of his computer first, because it's really pointless otherwise.I personally have an ATI 5850 on my new rig, and it's prepared to run another Xfire when I find the need to.[Edited on December 14, 2009 at 2:51 PM. Reason : xfire]
12/14/2009 2:50:28 PM
12/14/2009 2:53:22 PM
Given that Aion's recommended video card is a Radeon HD2600, it's pretty fucking stoopid to suggest a card for $300-450.
12/14/2009 7:46:33 PM
I'm pretty sure that given the fact that you have a 6000+ (I think), anything above your 8800GT will be bottlenecked. I bet your 8800GT already is bottlenecked.

Netstorm, you just got shat on. GTFO of my thread.
12/15/2009 12:29:58 AM
Are you really as moronic as the next guy in thinking that the "recommended card" is "the card which most fully and effectively utilizes this game at high graphics"? Or is even comparable to "kick-ass video card"? Are you really that ill-knowledged with computers, aside from your obvious misunderstanding of GPU technology and the necessity of computer specs? Is that really what you think, that I got shat on by a guy who has probably never even opened a computer in his entire life?Specs please.EDIT: Don't bring this noob computer shit to us if you won't even Google it first.[Edited on December 15, 2009 at 1:04 AM. I have he AGPU Ass Card X51 for my new rig.You wouldn't believe what it does to porn.
12/15/2009 1:24:20 AM
Even the new Battlefield Bad Company 2 for PC (going to be pretty demanding game) only has a 7900 or better for minimum specs, that card is like 5-6 years old... ggBro: what resolution will you be playing on?, do you feel the need to max a game, or are you content with medium graphics?
12/15/2009 8:27:10 AM
And furthermore, if you're content with minimum specs, why ask us for a kick-ass video card?
12/15/2009 10:46:57 AM
^You must not be talking to me, because I never said anything about minimum specs, among other things. Also, you assuming I know nothing about computers because I didn't name exactly what card I WTB is also hilarious.I also didn't say anything about the "recommended card", etc. I know what I need to get. And unlike you, I also know that TWW isn't fucking ZZF or TD and doesn't have everything lying around.Nigga please... you got shat on.

^^^Well you're not good with English either apparently, because you missed my point entirely. I didn't get shat on because the person was wrong and clearly had no idea what they were talking about--and you concurred. You're renewing the cycle of your apparent idiocy ITT.Now we want your specs so we can bring this thread to a close.

I came here to see if anyone was selling a card, not engage in an e-peen contest. If I had no idea what kind of card I needed for my system, I would have asked. I mean, thanks for your help and information, but if you didn't catch on already with your rudimentary language skills, I don't need it.For everyone yelling for specs, like st3pmaniadud said, I have a 6000+ with 2 gigs of 800 ram. Was pretty baller at one point, but not anymore, though it's OK for most games @ 1680x1050. I'm not paying $300+ for a video card if I can't even get my money's worth from it. So now you know why I said I didn't need it. you and rnzinser just wasted your time posting a bunch of stuff that I skipped over because I knew all of that already. I don't need Best Buy's Geek Squad giving me a bunch of info I don't need and trying to sell me a video card that costs as much as books. Thread highlights:-I post a WTB vidya card-u post bunch of info. thanks for the help, but I already have an idea of what I need because I RUN THIS SHIT built my own system.-someone else officially calls you out. u mad?-you insist i pay $300 to play a game that worked fine at max settings on my 8800GT and my roommate's 9600GT.-at first I was like >_> .. but then I lol'd.-u mad?-you somehow get the impression that i'm noob at computers.-I tell you to gtfo-Grandmaster don't know bout my aliases.-you want out of this thread because you're now reeking of shit.tl;dr: I know what I need to get, so stop giving me recommendations/asking for specs. Tech Talk is that way ->u mad?
12/15/2009 3:46:18 PM
Buy one of the HD4870s catalyst is selling and be done.
12/15/2009 4:10:05 PM
Buy some better RAM while you're at it--DDR3-13/1600 preferably. That would significantly increase the performance of your computer with ANY new GPU. The few specs you've given us seem to suggest you must have built this with your weekly allowance 7 years ago. If you've even so much as touched a computer and you "already know what you need" then hopefully you'll be a little clearer next time--or just go shopping online which you probably should have done anyway.[Edited on December 15, 2009 at 5:55 PM.
