Best bang for your buck, and it's top-of-the-line DX11 enabled. That, or you could go 5850 for 100 less, which is what I did.

Or an NVIDIA GTX series, whatever.

None of these pricks will have anything like that, get one off Newegg.

Pending your monitor resolution, you don't need a HD5870 to play Aion. If you are gaming at 19x12 or higher, and running the highest details with AA enabled, then you would need something very powerful, and likely in xfire or SLI.

For most people, med-high graphics are plenty, and at a more common resolution like 19x10 or 16x10.

Cards to look at:

ATI - HD4890, HD4870 (xfire), HD5850 (priced from low to high, higher resolution > xfired HD4870)

nVidia - GTX275, GTX260 SLI, GTX285 (" ")

Personally I would try to stretch for the HD5850. Its from the new line of ATI GPUs, supports DX11, and is based on smaller die technology meaning it will be cooler and OC further. nVidia is due for a new line, but it prob won't be until sometime next year.

Best strategy IMO would be to get the best single GPU you can get, because then you can improve performance by going with a dual-GPU setup, instead of being locked into a less dual-GPU setup early.

Yea you need a compatible motherboard and a power supply thats 80+ certified with at least 700 watts. If your looking for something to throw into a store-bought PC, you are going to need a new power supply regardless, I wouldn't risk a $250 GPU with some shitty PSU from Dell or HP...

This guy is clearly upgrading an older computer and knows very little about GPUs to begin with since he thinks we're going to sell him some monster thing for cheap cheap.

I have a suspicion that neither rnz or my suggestions will work with his rig. a 5850 is pretty top-of-the-line, and I suspect that his rig isn't.

Also, where have you seen data to suggest crossfiring 4870 is going to be better than a single 5850? I was pretty sure all the benchmarks I looked at suggested otherwise.

The higher amount of RAM from 2 HD4870 will help with higher resolutions and AA, should he be requiring that.

Here is a benchmark with the 5850 and 4870X2 (closest thing to 4870 xfire), they are pretty similar in terms of performance, but the 4870X2 pulls ahead moreso at the higher resolutions.

I think this guy just needs to get like a GTS250 and be done.

Aion really isn't that demanding. I wish he would have given the specs on the rest of his computer first, because it's really pointless otherwise.

I personally have an ATI 5850 on my new rig, and it's prepared to run another Xfire when I find the need to.

I came here to see if anyone was selling a card, not engage in an e-peen contest. If I had no idea what kind of card I needed for my system, I would have asked. I mean, thanks for your help and information, but if you didn't catch on already with your rudimentary language skills, I don't need it.

For everyone yelling for specs, like st3pmaniadud said, I have a 6000+ with 2 gigs of 800 ram. Was pretty baller at one point, but not anymore, though it's OK for most games @ 1680x1050. I'm not paying $300+ for a video card if I can't even get my money's worth from it. So now you know why I said I didn't need it. you and rnzinser just wasted your time posting a bunch of stuff that I skipped over because I knew all of that already. I don't need Best Buy's Geek Squad giving me a bunch of info I don't need and trying to sell me a video card that costs as much as books.

Buy some better RAM while you're at it--DDR3-13/1600 preferably. That would significantly increase the performance of your computer with ANY new GPU. The few specs you've given us seem to suggest you must have built this with your weekly allowance 7 years ago. If you've even so much as touched a computer and you "already know what you need" then hopefully you'll be a little clearer next time--or just go shopping online which you probably should have done anyway.
