i really wanted this over today, especially since i went to bed after 5, got up at 8 and my water was already breaking. no contractions, but due to infection risks i had to come in. they put me on penicillin (for infection) and pitocin (to induce) around noon, and i'm contracting every 2-3 minutes now.

unfortunately, this is apparently going to carry into tomorrow, probably early afternoon. i'm holding off on the epidural for now because once that's in i'm stuck in bed.

this would be a lot less frustrating if.... 1) i could EAT AND DRINK (i've had nothing since 8 am), 2) i had her today rather than spending my entire birthday in a chemically-induced labor that carries into tomorrow, and 3) i hadn't been jipped of having friends over tonight for food and cake (secretly planned by loving husband MJ).

things got pretty bad, so i got a bit of morphine and anti-nausea medication at 9 and i was out cold till 11. they took me off the pitocin around 1 to give my body a break and let me eat. pitocin round #2 to begin at 3ish am.

on a humorous note, at one point i stood up to go to the bathroom and gushed ALL over the floor, my slippers and my garments. for you women who have been mislead into believing that birth is dignified and spiritual, you're wrong. it's completely humiliating and messy.
