12/20/2009 11:27:27 PM
I think it has, not sure when they got their new menu but it's pretty good, ACP FTW
12/20/2009 11:55:38 PM
This place has the worst food ever. which is unfortunate, because they have all the ingredients to become a decent drinking hangout otherwise
12/21/2009 2:12:59 AM
what ingredients are those exactly?
12/21/2009 6:29:15 AM
^^ I always liked their food. Lunch Fajitas ftw. If Cueva is butt, what's a GOOD mexican place around here?
12/21/2009 8:10:04 AM
Their salsa is a joke, the beans disgusting, and the beef tastes like cat food. Their food is straight up inedible as far as im concerned. The last time I ate there was in like september, october tho so maybe they fixed their shitty cooks
12/21/2009 10:36:31 AM
I just went there last night and everything was at least fair I would say. You might have higher standards than me though, I don't know.
12/21/2009 10:38:04 AM

Well, I guess no one was there. It was WAY hyped for me.They advertise it as Mexican food geared towards the college crowd when in reality it's way more expensive than any other joint in the area I've been to. For one, when I peeked in, there wasn't a Mexican in the kitchen--and yea, I know that's not critical, but it's still surprising. The cheese sauce was plain bland and thin, the salsa is somehow worse than standard mexican-place salsa normally is, and the food is just plain overpriced. There was exactly two things I liked: the corn tortilla option was nice, because you sometimes can't find it in the standard places... too bad they just weren't that great. The other thing was that they had a basket of ten churros for 4.99, and they were pretty good (though they were frozen supermarket ones).I'm not going back, El Rodeo on Hillsborough is five times better. I haven't been to El Cerro though. What I really want is to just go downtown during lunch and find a taco truck.
12/21/2009 8:19:33 PM
I like El Cerro and Parking isn't an issue like El Rodeo.
12/21/2009 8:25:35 PM
I like El Cerro. All of my friends complaign of the service but I dont notice bad service very well
12/21/2009 8:34:25 PM
El Dorado FTW!

of the "fake mexican" places, Fiesta Mexicana is my faveask for the free white sauce with the chipsif i'm going for the real shit, i'll hit up Fonda Y Birrieria Jalisco or that joint halfway between Chapel Thrill and Saxapahaw whose name escapes me at the moment
12/21/2009 9:16:00 PM
^^^ more pepsi?
12/21/2009 9:28:41 PM
used to be Los Casadores (sp?) "The Hunters"I went there over the summer for $1 taco night on a Tuesday. I don't know if they still do that. They were perfectly acceptable, imo.I second Fiesta Mexicana. Friendly staff and the food and prices are good.
