i was a pack a day smoker for the past 3 years and about a half packer for 5 years before that. things that make it easy to quit :

nicorette
older people with lung/throat cancer (saw someone at a restarurant who had a huge scar and was still smoking last night)
the thousand dollars i will be saving in the next year
thinking about some ceo taking my hard earned money i spent on his cigs so that he can go fuck his hooker.

anyway i think im gonna be fine. i love being a nonsmoker!

i run 2 miles 2-3 days a week and work outside doing fairly physical shit for 7-8 hours a day so no weight gain. i wanted to kill someone yesterday and would have if they werent in another car. the gum keeps me from getting all worked up.

I've never been a [cigarette] smoker, but I hear that shit is harder to quit than some hard drugs.

another story of horror: my co-worker has pneumonia from being a regular smoker and has since decided to quit. He's about 22 days in, I think.

good luck, yo.

I'm trying to quit as well...not as successful as you so far. I've smoked for about 10 years now and in the past few years I have gotten to that pack a day mark. I'm down to around 1/4 to 1/2 pack/day now. Been chewing on toothpicks a lot lately...Is that nicorette stuff worth buying?

^^^ god yes. i got 170 2 milligram pieces of gum. definitely the way to go. if youre a pack of day thats 2 weeks of smoking ($wise) and the gum lasts alot longer than 2 weeks. you have to shift your addiction to the gum then eventually get off that. i was chewing 6 pieces a day 2 days ago....today ive only chewed one so far.

^^ yea i think i read that on some jelquing forum

^thanks mannnnnn

no it sucks at first. but chew it when u want a cig. 30 mins later your mind will be off of it. almost all of the people who work for me smoke, my boss smokes in our office. my roommate smokes in our house, and half of my friends do. i can be in the car with someone smoking and be fine with it already....i just pop some gum

i got mint flavor and its pretty decent. dont expect it to be like winterfresh. it takes about 2 minutes for the nicotine to kick in and TRUST me, you know it when it does. my stomach was getting queasy the first piece i chewed.

I am considering quitting dip for my New Years Resolution. From what I hear, it is WAY harder than quitting smoking. We'll see. I dip close to a can a day

I don't know which is nastier. Dip or Cigs.

They are both pretty repulsive.

yeah but the whole spitting/spit bottle thing is pretty foul.

don't tell me you swallow that shit, cause that's even worse.

really i use my anger from not smoking and channel it towards the tobacco industry as a whole. if they charge 5 bucks a pack and i still pay, that makes me their bitch.

if i ever swallowed I would puke

[no homo]

but i have been dipping for years, so I have developed several ways to do so without it being evident. empty beer bottles are my friend

you come into contact with dip spit much, much less, but IMO it's grosser than cig smoke.

i think the gum would help a dipper moreso than a smoker, you acquire the nicotine in a more similar way

wow, really?

oddly enough, i have never taken a single puff of a cig, even though both my parents and one of my sisters smoked my whole life

but baseball started me chewing, and i moved to dip. been hooked ever since. my family has no idea. i even dip at family gatherings, and no one knows. that's why i find it hard to believe that dipping is more gross than smoking

That being said, I have a friend that quit smoking by starting up dipping. now he dips all day long, and can't quit. dipping is by far harder to quit, because it is much easier to do on a regular basis

dipping is scary because it gets the younger guys. a friend of mine who is only 22 already had a piece of his ass graphed to his face. FUCK that

yea to me quitting smoking by starting dipping does nothing but endanger you for more types of cancer in more places.

It's not until you start walking around with a Mt. Dew bottle and spit into that all day long.

I smoked inside too before I quit in May. As you get away from it, you'll notice how your how house smells really bad to nonsmokers.

ive heard this too..but i can only see this even being remotely feasible if talking about the mental part. i've saw things saying it's harder than quitting heroin..LOL..let me know when you're puking your guts up and shitting on yourself from not smoking.

same here..and my brother doesn't smoke either. actually, not a single person in my family in my generation does..but every single person in my parents generation and above does. very weird.

I know a few friends that quit smoking and then picked it up again a month later. Don't get into the comfort zone where you're thinking you kicked the habit and you can just have one while drinking, or whatever.
