and started wanting to get younger?

When we were in elementary school we thought it would be so cool when we got to middle school.

When we were in middle school we thought high school would be so awesome.

When we were in high school we thought college would be heaven.

What about after that? When did you wish you were younger?

For me, I'd say around 23-25 I started wishing I was 21 again. And at 26....

My age right now, 27.

27 was the first birthday where I was like, "fuck, how old?"

You can't spin 27. 26 is still mid-20s. You can't spin 27.

I haven't reached that point yet. Then again, I only date older men, so it makes me feel younger.

Maybe 37?

I mean...I kinda miss the care-free younger days of middle school and high school.

Money was tight in college, so I worked full-time and didn't have the typical college life. So I don't really long for those days. I'm 26 now and having a fucking blast...although I'm working a lot. I'm kinda looking forward to that next step (or staying in this "step") of buying a house and living the "young professional" life style even more.

Life just keeps getting better or at least staying at the same level. Don't see that changing any time soon.

I think 22 is the turning point. At 21 you don't have much reason to want to be any older, other than more money or graduating college. At 22 you are okay because you are just past 21, often graduate, etc. At 23 it's like FUCK I'm getting old. At 23 those 18 year olds in college seem like little kids.

The 18 & 19 year olds now dont remember what SNICK was. It was before their time

I'm 6 months away from turning 30 and all I have to say is NO THANKS.

This whole starting to watch what I eat thing is not cool. Neither is going to the gym all the time to be able to do physical activities I used to take for granted before.

sigh.

21, and anyone who says otherwise is fooling themselves.

21 is the last checkpoint before you’re a full fledged grown up. You have all the rights of an adult, yet older people still view you as “just a kid”, giving you significant leeway with maturity issues and social norms.

No one who is 21 wants to be 25. You’d be giving up four of your prime years and getting that much closer to wrinkles, gray hair, weaker joints and a slower metabolism.

You don’t see 23 year women saying they’re 31. You see the opposite, because we as a society favor youth in women.

I’ve heard many times that the prime of a male’s life are 35-45, but I’m in no hurry to get there.

I disagree. The mid-20s are pretty great. You have a money. No more school. Cool career. Plenty of vacation time and friends who have enough money to go on cool vacations. Basically it just comes down to having a lot more money for playtime.

Plus, I'm not clear as to what you mean by maturity issues and social norms. BC here it's pretty standard to go out on a regular basis and not get married/have kids til your 30s.

yea seriously, i wouldn't wanna be back in college for nothin. i worked at least 20hrs/week my entire time in college. full-time school and part-time work is THE SUCK. every break we had from school, i just worked more.

i like being a professional and making money. it's much more fun that way. you can afford to do stuff.

Going out and not having kids is one thing...what I'm referring to is guilt associated with the less savory activities people our age partake in, such as drug use, coming to work late and hungover, fist fights, etc

If someone 21 or 22 smokes weed, stays out til 3 on a worknight, or gets in a scuffle at the bar, people tend to laugh it off to youth and inexperience

If someone 28 or 29 is still doing those same things, people are much more scrutinizing

I like doing all those things and I'm 25, so kind of in fringe zone as far as social acceptance

Maybe if you're a spoiled brat and mommy and daddy paid for your college/housing/expenses, then 21 wouldn't be rough.

But I worked 2 jobs and went to school full time when I was 21. It was exhausting.

I finally took my first real vacation when I turned 24. I'd never been on vacation before that ... not even with my family. BC I couldn't afford it.

True. I guess I never had a desire to get in bar fights. And even if I go out til 3 on a worknight, I'm still the first one in the office.

Not everyone can pull it off.

22.

I started feeling "old" at 26; thats when I realized it would be creepy if I dated/hit-on/hung-out-with high-school girls.

Short of the body starting to slide (taking better care of myself, eating right, etc), I prefer being older to being younger. HS sucked, college was ok, but having a job, a family, money, and the freedom/ability to do what I want makes it so worth it.

I know how this goes. Furthermore, if I do take any time off now, I don't stop worrying about shit going wrong at the office...I can't even relax or have fun. I feel guilty for taking time off. And I have for quite some time.

That whole working through college was exhausting.

BTW, I'll be 39 physically on my next birthday in Feb. Y'all know I ain't mentally that old.

I honestly think my best year was like my senior year of high school. Got drunk all the time, different parties all over the place, knew everybody everywhere.. Didn't care enough about breaking laws to do stupid stuff that I don't do now because I'll have to pay for it with jail/money. I didn't know enough people in college and I'm not really great at making new friends, so high school with everybody I had known growing up was great for me.
