Meh. It's the week before Christmas, there is NOTHING going on to report about. Stuff like this will make the headlines every time, because they are desperate for anything even vaguely newsworthy. TWW could crash for two days and they'd put it on the 11PM news.

Me and my GF ate there a couple months ago when we were in Raleigh. I was fine, but she got sick as shit.
12/22/2009 3:50:21 PM
Not knowing any of the details of the illnesses, I'm going to guess Norovirus. There have been some Gulf Coast oysters that have been recalled for that reason.
12/22/2009 3:51:57 PM
Most of their oysters are gulf oysters unless they get a special order.

Norovirus is a bitch.FDA: Link between norovirus and oysters?http://www.upi.com/Science_News/2009/12/07/FDA-Link-between-norovirus-and-oysters/UPI-93731260196167/WASHINGTON, Dec. 7 (UPI) -- The U.S. Food and Drug Administration is advising people not to eat oysters harvested from San Antonio Bay on or after Nov. 16.The FDA said it took the action because of reports of norovirus-associated illnesses in some people who eat oysters harvested from that area, which is located on the Gulf of Texas.Officials from the FDA, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and North Carolina, South Carolina and Texas are investigating about a dozen reports of norovirus-related illnesses from South Carolina and North Carolina consumers who ate oysters recently harvested from San Antonio Bay."Consumers who purchased oysters on or after Nov. 16 that have a label showing they came from San Antonio Bay are advised to dispose of the oysters and not eat them," the FDA said. "At restaurants, consumers can ask about the source of oysters offered as menu items."Restaurant operators and retailers should not serve or offer for sale oysters subject to this advisory," the FDA said. The Texas Department of State Health Services has ordered a recall of all oysters harvested from San Antonio Bay between Nov. 16 and Nov. 25.The FDA said noroviruses are a group of viruses that cause gastroenteritis, with symptoms that can include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea and stomach cramping. Affected individuals often experience low-grade fever, chills, headache, muscle aches and a general sense of tiredness. Norovirus usually is not life-threatening and does not generally cause long-term effects, officials said.

12/22/2009 11:27:53 PM
place is overrated anyway. when you're most known for your hushpuppies, thats not a hallmark of a great restaurant.
12/23/2009 12:01:41 AM
Yeah right...What if they are hush puppies stuffed with BBQ?[Edited on December 23, 2009 at 12:03 AM. Reason : l]

Aside from the oysters, the cioppino, and the seared ahi special the menu isn't very good.

Sucks for them. I'm still eating there!!
12/23/2009 12:34:03 AM
