Are stupid. They are for the weakest spirits who need something as arbitrary as a new day in order to do something that they have known they should have been doing all along. Is it any wonder that 99.99% of you idiots fail to keep your resolutions? Strange, but true - weak wills are are not strengthened by the passage of a meaningless date.

when you know you need to make a change, it makes it easier when there is a specific date to mark it by. no matter what time of year people say i'm quitting smoking or i'm eating healthier, how often does it actually stick?

My point is that if your spirit is so weak that you need a specific date to mark the start of your "change" then it is doomed to failure anyway. A fait accompli, so to speak.

i don't see a problem with it. if people want to try let them try, it doesn't effect you.

I guess i'm going to try to be more self disciplined...but unfortunately I'm not self disciplined enough to self discipline myself to become self disciplined, so that will probably last until tonight when I drink alcohol.
