The same movies that are good on DVD are good on Blu-Ray.

Cars is pretty awesome on blu-ray.

Anything with big effects. Iron Man comes to mind. Blu-Ray is the shit...lets see, The Dark Knight, Casino Royale, i'm drawing a blank and they are all downstairs.

my personal rule is that i buy most of big action/drama movies in blu-ray. Comedies and things like that i continue to get on DVD since they are dirt cheap.

Test it out with a good action flick and check for blurring.

Are newer movies like $30 a pop on Blu-Ray? I was hoping to get like 4-5 for $100 but maybe I'm setting my hopes too high

But normally I just download flicks for free so I might as well test out some new shit

I've seen both Dark Knight and Ironman on good quality DVD Rips but I think they're good enough to possibly buy

really depends on what tv you actually have.. i haven't looked at projection LCD's in a long time but they weren't that great picture wise last time i looked

i just got a 1080p LCD

need to get something like a WD TV Live so I can stream all of these blu-ray rips to it though.. right now the only HD i'm seeing is via TWC

oh yeah,

Star Trek is the bomb on Blu-Ray.

Check out Best Buy's weekly mailer. Each tuesday along with new releases they put a ton of blu-rays on sale. You can get some really good, and new, titles for 9.99-14.99.

I watched a Blu-Ray for the first time last night. It was The Hangover, and it was pretty incredible how clear it was (this was on a Samsung LCD - 1080p).

Just a note... if the movie was made more than a few years ago, odds are it doesn't look much different on Blu-Ray than it does on DVD. There are some exceptions for high-profile releases that were actually restored prior to encoding. Newer stuff looks great though.

if you want a good laugh, watch Terminator 2 on Blu-Ray. the scenes where the robot/machine guy gets shot - looks like big balls of aluminum foil on his chest when you watch it on BR

Fuck Best Buy and their puritan hours

Had to go to Walmart and settle for The Hangover and Wolverine

Although luckily my DivX copy of The Hangover has half the credits cut out so I never saw the entire photo reel

^^I was entertained by both movies originally

also I heard it was a dildo, thankfully

plus Walmart's selection was complete ass...they probably had like 30-40 movies

YES!!
I, too, am relegated to a 1080i projection tv and I bought Planet Earth on Blu Ray even before I owned a player because I got a ridiculous deal on Cyber Monday from Discovery.com where they had it for only $25.00 (normally $99.99) It looks absolutely amazing.

etc

bets on how long till lucas re-re-re-releases Starwars I-VI in Blu-ray with original cuts and 're-edited' cuts?
