do you think pouring money into your computer will be something that you look back on and laugh at in a few years?
1/6/2010 7:02:04 PM
I, too, have 8GB of ram.
1/6/2010 7:03:36 PM
Some people put there money into cpu'sSome put it into beerSome put it into making cars fastSome put it into investmentsSome put it into travellingThere is nothing wrong with this as long as there is a point to it. Like running high end video software or games.
1/6/2010 7:04:26 PM
also, I read an article the other day that said the amount of RAM in your computer is directly proportional to the size of your cock-n-balls^ no kidding. I wasn't trolling at all.... just wondering. Lord knows I blew a lot of money in college on stupid shit.]

^^I have at least 4 games that use 5Gb of RAM, so BLOW ME.Why would I want i5/i7 when the gains are less than 20% from a Wolfdale@4.2ghz when playing at 1920x1200p. You talk about wasting money and then you tell me to buy the most expensive platform on the market for small gains. The thing I am considering is going to C2Q which almost match i7/i5 when clocked to 4ghz. Here is some proof to prove you're a dumbass:http://www.legionhardware.com/document.php?id=807Look at 1920x1200, that is what my monitor is. You think 2-5fps is worth spending over $400?If you follow my threads, they are all to show off Also I won my motherboard in an OCing competition. PWNT. [Edited on January 6, 2010 at 7:24 PM. Summary:BlackDog enjoys upgrading and showing off his computer.merbig is being an ass, or just plain wrong. There would be little value in BlackDog changing platforms, as that would require replacing nearly all of his hardware for little if any performance gains. Id 8GB excessive? Yeah, but so the fuck what? I find myself pushing the limits of my 4GB of RAM at times and I wouldn't mind an upgrade. Don't forget about Windows 7's prefetch. The more RAM you have, the more shit it can preload into memory and the less paging is required, meaning a more responsive desktop environment.aikimann can suck my balls. I had 10.5 TB of hard disk space before Christmas and my dad gave me a 1TB NAS for my Christmas, so ha! ]
1/6/2010 7:52:54 PM
how is that Q6600 treating ya? I thought about it but because of my motherboards tendency to love duals and hate quads, I went with the most cost effective OCer (E8500 though the E8400 can hit similar speeds)You know most Q6600 can hit 3.5ghz easy with a decent HS. Damn, Mr secretive; had to remove your RAM/CPU info? [Edited on January 6, 2010 at 8:02 PM. Reason : /]

more like, no one cares, there are probably a million+ pc's that outperform that.
1/6/2010 7:58:00 PM
you are missing the point, just like a terrorist.
1/6/2010 7:58:40 PM
I've booted and benchmarked the Q6600 at 4.0GHz @ 1.3125V but it hit 70 C under load and my RAM can't manage the fast clocks (no my motherboard doesn't support running it unlinked). I run it at 3.0GHz most of the time, which runs just about any game at 1920x1080 with the settings turned most or all of the way up. If I have a lot of transcoding jobs to do, I'll change it to 3.6 GHz temporarily.I don't play a lot of games, but I do RIP and transcode a lot of videos. I'm in the process of converting all my HD DVDs to a more compatible format.
1/6/2010 8:01:57 PM
I play lots of games when I have the time and watch a lot of Blu-Rays (Netflix).1.31V is actually very good for a Q6600 at 4.0, you just need to upgrade your heat sink.70C really isn't that bad on a stock HS, have you tried Intel Burn Test? It's the most taxing bench available and even my huge HS gets to ~69C[Edited on January 6, 2010 at 8:04 PM. Reason : .]

not all of us have unlimited funds. It's pretty funny one guy is defending my platform and another is telling me to upgrade and another is saying I spend too much money; I provided plenty of proof why i5/i7 is not worth the upgrade.[Edited on January 6, 2010 at 8:07 PM. Reason : .]
