I did not realize NC had decriminalized possession laws.

Anyone care to post links to good info about this?

Possession greater than 1.5 ounces increases the penalties to up to 12 months in jail.

Manufacture, Cultivation, sale or delivery of less than five grams, for no remuneration (payment, barter, or exchange of any kind) is considered possession and not sale. For amounts of ten pounds or less, the penalty is up to 12 months in jail.

Penalties for sale, delivery or manufacture are increased if the sale occurs within 300 feet of a school zone if the offender is over 21 and if the sale was made to a minor or to a pregnant woman.

Possession of paraphernalia is punishable by up to six months in jail.

(N.C.G.S. 90-95 as of 2/05/07)

Conditional release: The state allows conditional release or alternative or diversion sentencing for people facing their first prosecutions. Usually, conditional release lets a person opt for probation rather than trial. After successfully completing probation, the individual's criminal record does not reflect the charge.

Decriminalization: The state has decriminalized marijuana to some degree. Typically, decriminalization means no prison time or criminal record for first-time possession of a small amount for personal consumption. The conduct is treated like a minor traffic violation.

Hemp: This state has an active hemp industry. Hemp is a distinct variety of the plant species cannabis sativa L. that contains minimal (less than 1%) amounts of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), the primary psychoactive ingredient in marijuana. Various parts of the plant can be utilized in the making of textiles, paper, paints, clothing, plastics, cosmetics, foodstuffs, insulation, animal feed, and other products. For more information see NORML's Industrial Use section.

Drugged driving: This state has a zero tolerance per se drugged driving law enacted. In their strictest form, these laws forbid drivers from operating a motor vehicle if they have any detectable level of an illicit drug or drug metabolite (i.e., compounds produced from chemical changes of a drug in the body, but not necessarily psychoactive themselves) present in their bodily fluids. For more information, see NORML's Drugged Driving (DUID) report.

Marijuana tax stamps: This state has a marijuana tax stamp law enacted. This law mandates that those who possess marijuana are legally required to purchase and affix state-issued stamps onto his or her contraband. Failure to do so may result in a fine and/or criminal sanction. For more information, see NORML's report Marijuana Tax Stamp Laws And Penalties ."

yes marinol only produces the hungry effect of THC, it's not the entire chemical compound

http://www.justice.gov/dea/ongoing/marinol.html

Since it's says DEA you know it's not biased , but still some facts.

Exactly, I could get a license easier than anyone else, chronic pain is the number one reason it's prescribed in those states. I've been on and off opiates for 3 years and I hate them and the side effects that comes along with taking them or stopping.

In a similar vein, the FDA has not approved smoking marijuana for medicinal purposes, but has approved the active ingredient-THC-in the form of scientifically regulated Marinol."

This part is full of shit, Morphine is no different than opium or heroin to the brain.

Also Marinol is not THC, so it's not similar to morphine vs opium/heroin; fucking dumbass DEA web posters.

The only thing I have been prescribed in that list is codeine, is that the liquid? I know they have liquid hydrocodone, so I'm guessing that is what it is.

They should be comparing Fentanyl lollipops to heroin/opium (anyone see that intervention?)

Codeine is the liquid form of hydrocodone IIRC. I had liquid hydrocodone prescribed to me one time for a broken wrist. It doesn't do shit.

I also had hydrocodone prescribed to me after having my wisdom teeth taken out. It too, doesn't do shit for me. Flurbiprofen did more for pain than hydrocodone.

Ah so I was right, nice. I've found that gabapentin (1200mg/day) + vicodin is really helping my pain a great deal compared to 2 weeks ago before I was put on gaba.

also this is not a way to tack on charges, it's illegal to posses weed, so if you try to buy the stamps they arrest you.

^Florida for the win (no state taxes)

Quote :
"A total of 41 states impose income taxes. New Hampshire and Tennessee apply it only to income from interest and dividends. Seven states (Alaska, Florida, Nevada, South Dakota, Texas, Washington, and Wyoming) do not tax personal income. Of the 41 with a broad-based income tax, 35 base the taxes on federal returns, typically taking a portion of what you pay the IRS or using your federal adjusted gross income or taxable income as the starting point."

although in hindsight I'd say Nevada ftw

hey guys lets live somewhere with medicinal weed, legalized gambling and prostitution, and no state income taxes

so is this just completely up to the cop/judges discretion? seems like a lot of gray area to me

the whole thing is a gray area in my opinion, it's very dependent on what cop arrest you and what judge you go in front of (and no I'm not speaking from experience )

It also depends on if your cop shows up and who your attorney is.
