not that hard with diet dr pepper cherry out there (sodium ftw!) and once you get used to unsweet tea. But then you get that rare occurrence where you're at cookout or bojangles and they give you sweet tea by mistake..."Well I'm already here eating trashy food, what's an extra 250 calories going to do"

Just be poor for a while, worked for me. Kicked tea about the time Pink Floyd was on the Pulse tour. Kicked soda about 10 years ago when the money didn't stretch that far.

Well, I still have the occasional soda (1 can per 6-8 weeks).

My sister tried to give up caffeine last year. She said it was harder than quitting smoking.

That stuff has caffeine, albeit about 1/2 of most sodas. Maybe it would be a good stepping stone, but being 12 days in there is no reason to use it now.

I don't see the point of it either, but I can't help it if that's his goal.

I've been off caffeine since highschool. It's not that hard, get 7 hours of sleep every night and you'll be fine.

Making sweet tea is cheap as fuck. Like CHEAP as fuck.

Also, you can get most off brand sodas for like 75cents a 2liter.

You are saying you couldn't even afford that?

I didn't read this thread and don't know if it's been mentioned....

but I would say eating at Bojangles repeatedly is worse for you then having a soda every now and again.

the molecules that comprise a Bojangles meal are mostly empty space

you got something against empty space?

i quit regular soda a couple of years ago, and just quit soda altogether just before christmas. i was sick of relying on caffeine to be clearheaded in the morning. the headaches lasted about 3-4 days. i still will drink unsweetened tea every once in a while. i've never liked coffee.

i feel a lot better. it's so night to get up on a weekend and not have to immediately jump into the pepsi.

day 15, stepped on the scales

I weighed in at 240 in late december of last year.

Stepped on scale today after lunch and i am 226. I've lost close to 15 lbs this month so far by dropping sodas and sweet tea.

were you quitting diet sodas or regular sodas?

when i quit drinking regular soda and switched to diet several years ago i definitely lost about 10lbs that first month. it's amazing the amount of sugar you take in drinking 3-4 regular sodas a day

sodas all together. none of this "oh i'll switch to diet" bs.

No more giant mountain dews from taco bell, big sweet teas from bojangles, and endless sweet tea everytime i go out to eat.

what i'm saying is, were you a regular soda drinker or a diet soda drinker? i'm guessing with that kinda of lost poundage you were a regular soda drinker.

if you're just looking to lose weight (by quitting sodas/sweet tea) then you could technically drink diet sodas and get unsweet tea and add splenda to it

however, if you're trying to quit the caffeine - well then, Godspeed my friend

i've cut soft drinks out cold turkey before and had no problems doing so. the caffeine never did anything to me, and the carbonation is the only thing i miss...effervescence helps sore throats.

Yeah caffeine has never done anything for me either. I can go weeks without a soda or anything caffeinated and I could also pound a red bull and then go to bed.

I've heard that it takes 14 days to overcome a psychological addiction (although a cursory Google search provides no examples or evidence of this fact).

If so, you're two days away, brah.

gave up soda/energy drinks/coffee twice for lent, i would have been successful the frist time, except drive through lady somehow misunderstood unsweet tea for coke on about day 32 and i didnt realize it until i had already taken a big sip of it...super pissed about that but i drank the damn thing anyway

it wasnt that hard after about three weeks and i did notice some weight loss and more $$$ in the pocket
