i don't have this problem

i turned my water heater down to (120°F?) and so all i do is turn on the hot water full blast...it's the perfect temperature for a hot shower (and everything else that i need hot water for that doesn't involve some sort of cooking)

^ that's a great idea. saves electricity too, assuming you have an electric hot water heater.

^ yeah, i have an electric hot water heater...in my next house, i'm determined to have one or two flash heaters (gas preferably, electric if necessary) so that i can REALLY cut down on the bill (and have hot water faster), but this does for now...i did this within the first week of moving in, so i'm not sure how much i'm saving

it's still too hot for my fiancé, so she plays with the temp, but the fact that it's perfect (for me) for showering, washing hands, shaving, etc. without playing with the temp saves time and money

Yeah, those flash water heaters are pretty cool. My brother-in-law has a house in the mountains that has one. he runs the whole hot water system off of a propane tank identical to one you would use for a gas grill.

I didn't have this problem this morning. The whole no hot water thing takes care of that quickly.

Saving money on hot water ranks so far down on my list of ways to cut back that I'd have to go on welfare before I even considered considering it

^^ saving money on hot water doesn't actually have to change your hot water preferences one bit, unless you take showers with water that causes dermal damage due to heat

the time i spend showering =/= the time i spend brushing my teeth

and checking e-mail takes way longer than putting on clothes

^ dishwashers have heating elements and heat up the water themselves. and with the right detergent, cold water can wash clothes just as well as hot
