1/16/2010 9:35:28 AM

1/16/2010 9:36:48 AM

1/16/2010 9:39:06 AM

1/16/2010 9:41:02 AM

1/16/2010 9:44:56 AM
Farmer's Market.
1/16/2010 9:45:36 AM
1/16/2010 9:46:52 AM
i'm not a fan of the farmer's market i'm thinking there's tons of places to eat downtown, i've just never been to any of them. we could just park and walk...
1/16/2010 9:46:54 AM
old time
1/16/2010 9:47:52 AM
do you want something really southern?
1/16/2010 9:48:06 AM
^^
1/16/2010 9:48:20 AM
will BBQ really give her the poops or are you assuming that because she's a yankee?
1/16/2010 9:49:05 AM
.....i told her we were going to the Pit, and she said she'd heard good things but that it would tear her stomach up.so yeah, i'm fairly certain that was a nice way of saying BBQ MAKES ME SHIT
1/16/2010 9:50:01 AM
well dude barring BBQ, take her pretty much anywhere at that point
1/16/2010 9:51:01 AM
Bojangles
1/16/2010 9:51:34 AM
name some places in downtown raleigh that are good! i haven't eaten in downtown raleigh much at all.^dude, we are so there.[Edited on January 16, 2010 at 9:51 AM. Reason : .]
1/16/2010 9:51:42 AM
Make sure to go to a new bojangles, because those are usually pretty fucking nice inside and the food is pretty good. Plus it won't be in an area filled with whiny college kids, so she'll think better of the place.
1/16/2010 9:54:07 AM
Where the hell in NC doesn't have sweet tea. That's like saying the only requirement is tables.
1/16/2010 9:56:31 AM
there are probably more establishments w/o tables than those w/o sweet tea in NC
1/16/2010 9:57:19 AM
truth.
1/16/2010 9:58:06 AM
exactly, which is why this thread should be blowing up right now i'm looking at a google search of downtown raleigh restaurants and all the names i'm seeing (Bogarts, Sullivans, Second Empire) all strike me as nice dinner establishments. i want a nice lunch atmosphere.is Irregardless Cafe good for lunch?
1/16/2010 9:58:30 AM
Big Ed's
1/16/2010 9:58:42 AM
They close at noon on Saturdays but Big Ed's would be good.
1/16/2010 9:58:57 AM
i worked at Big Ed's before i was legally allowed to work the food is great, but Ed is a cheap bastard
1/16/2010 9:59:28 AM
Ed doesn't own it anymore.
1/16/2010 10:00:05 AM
well shitthen maybe he ain't payin' 14 year olds under the table to bus dishes anymore
1/16/2010 10:00:37 AM
Thankfully the guy who owns it now hasn't changed it a bit. All the stuff is still on the walls and the menus are the same. I love going there for lunch during the week.
1/16/2010 10:01:45 AM
Yeah, Big Ed's was awesome. Working there 8 to 12 on a Saturday when I was 14, I got paid $25 for the day and a free meal - whatever I wanted [Edited on January 16, 2010 at 10:03 AM. Reason : holy shit that was 13 years ago i'm so fucking old]

1/16/2010 10:15:31 AM
I could give my roommate a shout out and suggest Sitti- place is actually reeeeeeeally good (best mediteranean in the area IMO) and really healthyor Roast Grill (hotdog place a block over from Saucer that was on man vs food)
1/16/2010 10:17:30 AM
No sweet tea though at the roast grill, just those little bottle of cokes.
1/16/2010 10:18:02 AM
ah- truethey do have other stuff (beer and big sodas, but their "sweet tea" is Nestea cans I think)
1/16/2010 10:19:02 AM
i'll add to this list the farmer's market restaurantdon't take her to the Pittthat's too high falootinyou need to take her to a place where there's lots of drawl, ceramic pigs and local yokels everywherealso, take her on a quick trip through the fair grounds flea market
1/16/2010 10:20:27 AM
If you take them to a BBQ place take them to Cooper's. Or you could just take them to Bojangles .
1/16/2010 10:20:30 AM
a bullet
1/16/2010 10:22:43 AM
ok, we decided to do Tir-Na-Nog, even though it's not southern and there's probably plenty of other Irish pubs up where she's from. i've wanted to try a Scotch Egg for-freaking-ever and they have them on their lunch menu.and when she vetoed BBQ that pretty much put an end to a truly southern lunch, haha. sooooo Irish it is.thanks teedub.
1/16/2010 10:26:12 AM
ooo- ^^^^ is right- take her to the flea market and then go to ol' time... or pam's[Edited on January 16, 2010 at 10:26 AM. Reason : d]
1/16/2010 10:26:15 AM
damnit my bad, tir-na-nog isnt the place with a scotch egg damnit where is the place with the scotch egg? aah it's on their dinner menu. well shucks....[Edited on January 16, 2010 at 10:29 AM. Reason : .]
1/16/2010 10:28:04 AM
SO MUCH FOR THIS THREAD
1/16/2010 10:29:10 AM
yeah, i admit i was kinda hoping for some BBQ action.....and after looking at the menu for the Pit i got excited....but it's OK, we'll have fun. it's more about catching up and chatting and less about food.
1/16/2010 10:31:06 AM
because its not like she couldn't get fried chicken or something like that at the pit...
1/16/2010 10:35:46 AM
yeah she said we can go to the Pit if they have chicken, but now i'm kinda feelin' Tir Na Nog
1/16/2010 10:36:51 AM
The Pit sucks, all the BBQ places have chicken, and Tir Na Nog is awesome. I'd go with Tir Na Nog.
1/16/2010 10:40:06 AM
dude the portions are so fucking small at the pit she will NOT get an upset stomach.
1/16/2010 10:44:01 AM
How can you not like the farmer's market restaurant??? that is one of the best places to eat in raleigh, and if i weren't on this stupid fucking diet, i'd eat there every day. (i guess if i didn't have to work either)
1/16/2010 10:45:07 AM
she said if we go to the Pit she'd just get chicken, no worries there. but we've decided on Tir Na Nog, since i've never been there and would really like to go./thread
