I bet this means we are going to see a NASA shuttle engine strapped to the back of a tractor at the state fair tractor pull next year.
1/16/2010 10:08:17 PM
ill just wait for the generic shuttle at TJ Maxx a little later
1/16/2010 10:09:03 PM
I hope this means NASA is about to reveal the next gen shuttle.
1/16/2010 10:09:04 PM
^there is no "next gen shuttle"Constellation Program. Look into it.
1/16/2010 10:12:17 PM
^^^you can get a name brand shuttle at marshalls, but the booster rockets might be installed upside down and it will be marked 'irregular".[Edited on January 16, 2010 at 10:12 PM. Reason : .]

1/16/2010 10:13:22 PM
I guess there was also no Shuttle during the Saturn V days?NASA is always holding a bag of goodies that aren't shown to the public until it's almost impossible not to.
1/16/2010 10:14:33 PM
Better lock in your bid now, before another one crashes and the price goes up.
1/16/2010 10:18:55 PM
and that "bag of goodies" will be the Constellation Program, guy
1/16/2010 10:19:24 PM
1/16/2010 10:19:39 PM
with the main engines included for free(see quote in OP) it surely can fly, all you need is to buy some solid boosters to get it into space. However you are right about landing, they are just a brick with wings coming down.
1/16/2010 10:21:01 PM
^^i bet you are a real winner at parties. [Edited on January 16, 2010 at 10:21 PM. Reason : .]

I've always wondered what would happen if somehow they fucked up the approach when trying to land and overshot the airport or something. Its not like they could just turn around and try again.
1/16/2010 10:22:34 PM
Well they basically land in a salt flat type landing strip, so they would have to overshoot by more than 20-40 miles
1/16/2010 10:23:55 PM
They die. With no ejection system. Even the fucking russians had ejection seats in their space shuttles.
1/16/2010 10:25:19 PM
1/16/2010 10:27:38 PM
^^Oh, I thought they typically landed at air force bases.
1/16/2010 10:27:44 PM
If it's any consolation they usually die long before the landing sequence.

I guess the blu-ray landings of "When we Left Earth" are all fake.
1/16/2010 10:53:29 PM
listen, guy, you may have seen the landing of STS-1 at a "salt flat", as you say, (btw, it was Edwards Air Force Base) on the DVD. But, I assure you, they don't "basically land" in "salt flats." I saw at least 3 different shuttles land on the same salt flatBut just to shut you up, yes most modern shuttle landings are done here:[Edited on January 17, 2010 at 1:26 AM. Reason : .]

That one is clearly landing on a runway, which you can see, not a salt flat.See that smoke come off the tires from where they are hitting the concrete? And no, its not dust.

1/17/2010 2:09:33 AM
