Ok... I got a ticket because I hadn't renewed my registration last month. It's only a $25 fine, but I have to pay $100 court costs if I plead guilty and send in the check by mail.If I show up to court, will they waive the $100? HAHA yea right Is there any way to avoid the $100 fee? The $25 fee is so small, I don't see why I should go to court... Seems like it would be easier and less hassle to just mail in a check for $125.Do you guys agree??

I think you should renew your registration and not worry about getting tickets.

But when I show up, won't I still have to pay the $100 court costs? Will they waive just $25 or the whole $125?For the record, I'm all renewed now [Edited on January 19, 2010 at 2:49 PM. Reason : s]

^^^^That used to be the way it worked. Either recently, or in the not-too-distant future, though, they're actually cracking down on this, and there is a fine (but it might be from the DMV, not the court system) for letting registration lapse. I paid attention to that bit because I used to be really bad about letting my registration lapse, simply because there was no real penalty.^if your charges are waived, you pay no court costs.[Edited on January 19, 2010 at 2:49 PM. yeah as recently as dec 2nd (when my court date was for the exact same thing) you just show up, prove its renewed and they drop everything

This happened to me a few months ago, and all I did was go through a line at the courthouse, show them my ticket and renewed registration, and they dropped it. I didn't have to pay a dime.

^^Right. I want to say it was staggered, or else lined up to go into effect at the same time as some other new policy. I'm searching for a link now. It's not registration. It was insurance lapses. While I don't let my insurance lapse, I'm really bad about printing out up-to-date proof, and I had worried briefly about that. [Edited on January 19, 2010 at 2:54 PM. Reason : qwsdf]
