They're not on capital Blvd anymore... I just noticed that their sign isn't there.

I used to hit that place up a lot about 4 or 5 years ago when it was near the Walmart on Falls of Neuse.

I too use to frequent Reds. Are you referring to their new location or old one? Seems like they moved around '06 sometime. Here's their website:

i almost got a bartending job there but the place totally sketched me out. also the owner was on the phone with the police about 50% of my interview with him b/c his son had just been arrested for the bajillionth time or something

It's already some other kind of club. Looks like it says "Capital *something*" but I've only ever peeked on the way by. There were twice as many cars in the parking lot as any other time I drove by when it was Reds.

Red's was doing well in 05. His old location on Falls was packed to the brim on Wednesday nights for example. But he had this idea of getting bigger, doing food and music at the same time. So he closed down and re opened... a year later. Meanwhile, a lot of his regulars found other venues (Loafer's Beach Club and TJ's Night Life).

When he opened back up, he had lost his main shag instructor (Don Bunn) to a competitor. People were kind of sketching out about the Capital location. It's kind of hard to get to and it's not in a great part of town. Red had also alienated a lot of people because he had a serious alcohol problem at one point. I used to see him pounding down drinks when he ran the old Falls location. Red had planned to start serving food there but he just couldn't get a crowd for all those reasons. The place always looked dead. So it doesn't surprise me that he's closed up at all.
