I felt smart when I was in high school. I was top of the class. Engineering school made me feel dumb. At best I was middle of the pack.

It depends on what I'm doing. When I'm applying practical knowledge I picked up at my internships, I feel smart because a lot of people don't have (and never will have) some of that experience.

When it comes to how my workplace actually operates in its convoluted manner, I feel like a total dumbass.

When it comes to doing some of the more advanced design/analysis stuff I was supposed to remember from college, I feel kinda dumb sometimes. Been a while since I did that stuff and I've got to start doing it again.

I both know more from going to college, and know how much more there is out there that I don't know because of college, and for that I do feel smarter.

But I'll have to wait and see if that attitude holds throughout grad school.
