I have a splitting headache from lack of sleep because I keep coughing all night. How can I get my hands on some damn codeine or something that will suffer me to sleep.

Melatonin at health food stores (GNC, Vitamin Shoppe, etc).It is a natural hormone that regulares your sleep cycle. AFAIK, no side effects if taken in moderation.[Edited on January 23, 2010 at 4:43 PM. Reason : Yes OTC... I am sure pharmacies carry it too. Take 3 mg.][Edited on January 23, 2010 at 4:45 PM. Last year I was really sick and non-stop coughing and stuff, got a script from the doc and cough syrup with codeine was still, over $100 with insurance.

seems like everyone and their momma has a hacking cough right now. including myself. luckily the doc gave me some of that good good.
1/23/2010 9:07:10 PM
you should be able to get it otc at some drugstores[Edited on January 23, 2010 at 10:33 PM. Reason : dextromethorphan is quite effective, too]

Robitussin AC is technically OTC, but good luck finding a pharmacy that carries it OTC. I would check the independent pharmacies first.

melatonin is an odd fucking drugthe first 3 hours of sleep feel like 9then the rest feel like crazy time
1/24/2010 2:23:47 AM
It's hardly a drug. More like a vitamin to me.Cause I'm such a hardcore badass.
1/24/2010 2:27:31 AM
Cheratussin AC is pretty easy to find at the mom and pop drug stores. You just sign for it like psuedo. It's Codeine and Guaifenesin instead of Promethazine. I don't know where to tell you to try in RDU, but I can tell you where to go toward the east coast area.studies show dextromethorphan does not work at all. It just fools your brain into thinking you don't have to cough or some nonsense. DMX does absolutely nothing for me unless I want a flashback to immature highschool recreation.[Edited on January 24, 2010 at 2:53 AM. Reason : .]tessalon perles (BENZONATATE) worked ok for me and they were not that expensive out of pocket. But please don't waste money on any OTC cough medicine unless it's the codine+guaf for $7.00. Everything else is a joke.[Edited on January 24, 2010 at 2:59 AM. Reason : .]

^^ +1Also, melatonin isn't a drug. It's a naturally occurring compound in your body (among other places).
