I kind of admire how he goes above and beyond on everything, he is really driven.

- most politicians just have affairs, edwards not only had an affair, he impregnated a blonde during a presidential campaign when his wife was just diagnosed with cancer

- most politicians try to half ass cover up their misdeeds by paying off key people, edwards, not only put his baby mama up in a luxurious home on the opposite side of the continent inside a gated community, and paid her not to talk to anyone, HE EVEN PAID A GUY TO PLAY IM THE DADDY, THE GUY HE PAID WAS ALSO MARRIED.

- most politicians proclaim innocence until they are outed and then admit fault and apologize, edwards maintained innocence until a week or so before the book release, and still managed to keep his baby mama away from the media.

While you may not care what he does in his personal life, a considerable percentage of voters do. He had a decent chance at being the Democratic nominee, knowing that this could destroy his chances. Had he gotten the nomination and this came out in the run up to office, it would've ruined the Dems' chances at taking back the White House and severely hurt them in Congressional races.
