Handy remains in custody pending his sentencing. The case is the result of a joint investigation conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation; the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives; and the Little Rock Police Department. The case was prosecuted by former Assistant U.S. Attorney Joe Volpe, Assistant U.S. Attorney John Ray White and Department of Justice Civil Rights Division Trial Attorney Jim Felte."

don't get me wrong, i'm not a fan of it. and it's disgusting. But you can call it "human trafficking" all you like, this is still just another dude pimpin' his trailer ho. And it's not as bad as i could have been: it wasnt a baby or a child. the chick was between 14 and 18, old enough to have resources to try and escape.

For the record - the FBI labeled it human trafficking. So you can stop acting like I'm just being dramatic. I don't care if you shed a tear - you're really not worth the energy in convincing you to do so. the question is, how did he get so much as 7.5 years. the answer is, because this became a federal offence when it crossed state boundaries.

otherwise the guy would have been charged with prostitution at the county or state level, and have probably done a year or two, tops.

if you bothered to read your "wikipedia" quote, you'd see that human trafficking involves kidnapping and enslavement, when people are removed from their home country to become involuntarily enslaved by their captor or purchaser. whether or not it's used for the sexual purposes is secondary.

OTOH, "sex trafficking" (what the guys were charged with) is like "drug trafficking" ... it's simply the providing of sex for profit. just straight up pimpin' by another word.
