doesnt that kind of defeat the purpose of helping them lose weight?
2/13/2010 12:21:57 PM
jesus christ can you guys trip yourselves over random internet girls any more?
2/13/2010 12:22:19 PM
we get it, BubbleBobble, we get it
2/13/2010 12:23:32 PM
we should petition for a separate type of placard for fat people, it makes them park at the very end of the row
2/13/2010 12:23:53 PM
haha the placard could havve the "no fatties" sign on it
2/13/2010 12:26:48 PM
are you serious that fatties get handicapped spaces? that's fucking obscene.
2/13/2010 12:28:20 PM
they should have to pay for weighted tags, not get handicap permits
2/13/2010 12:35:22 PM
have you guys never noticed somebody parking in a handicapped spot and getting out of the car with no apparent physical limitations to their mobility other than being fat?
2/13/2010 12:36:49 PM
you mean a black person?
2/13/2010 12:37:38 PM
it's like that episode of the simpsons where homer gets really really fat so he can go on disability [Edited on February 13, 2010 at 12:37 PM. Reason : .]
2/13/2010 12:37:45 PM

2/13/2010 12:42:31 PM
We should start an online petition.
2/13/2010 12:51:33 PM
Why do we get so up in arms over anorexia and bulimia, but do nothing over obesity (essentially the polar opposite of those conditions), which is hundreds of times more prevalent and more deadly?
2/13/2010 12:54:46 PM
People get "up in arms" over anorexia and Bulimia?News to me.
2/13/2010 12:55:35 PM
news to me as well
2/13/2010 12:58:15 PM
Really? When someone is suspected as being anorexic, it is taken SUPER DUPER SERIOUSLY and they are rushed to get help. Not that I'm saying it isn't serious, because it is, but there's a double standard. Nobody has an intervention for some guy eating 5 McDonalds cheeseburgers a day.
2/13/2010 12:59:07 PM
it's not the fat that gets them oneit's the "diabetes"and "thyroid problems"and "omgahd my belly is draggin the ground causing sores" type shit
2/13/2010 1:01:03 PM
don't forget heart disease
2/13/2010 1:04:47 PM
2/13/2010 1:07:43 PM
but as far as i know none of them really cause mobility problems (i'm no doctor so feel free to correct that)also, as a doctor, i think i'd be like "no, losing weight will help you with the diabetes/thyroid problem and every little bit helps, so park and walk"[Edited on February 13, 2010 at 1:08 PM. Why do they always have to use our electric scooter at the store? THey need to put about 200 pounds worth of water and fruit in their cart and push it around the store about 500 times when they come shopping.
2/13/2010 1:17:38 PM
man i wish i had a handicap placard for my fat ass, that'd be pretty sweet
2/13/2010 1:23:03 PM
2/13/2010 1:24:41 PM
you're acting like being fat precludes any other conditionspecifically conditions that aren't obvious to the naked eyeI mean, of course it's not possible that someone could be fat and have any kind of "pulmonary or cardiovascular disability, arthritic condition, orthopedic or neurologic impairment"
2/13/2010 1:26:37 PM
holy shit my thread got a stillfuschia post and shes defending the fatties
2/13/2010 1:30:42 PM
when you are carrying around 100+ extra pounds every day, day and night, its pretty easy to get arthritis or other conditions in the knees, ankles and feet. this can make it painful to walk, and makes it extra hard for those who need it most to get the exercise they need.
2/13/2010 1:34:20 PM
thank you for your excellent answer. makes perfect sense and was very well-put. you are nice.
2/13/2010 1:36:11 PM
People probably think this about my grandmother, who visibly just seems fat. She has congestive heart failure though, and her lungs are full of fluid, so walking long distances is beyond her capacity.
2/13/2010 1:36:45 PM
2/13/2010 1:41:05 PM
besides, you know most parking lots have enough handicapped spaces for every person in a wheelchair in town to be at the same place at once.

People get worked up over people with eating disorders because they care about the person (and because it's usually hot girls).People get worked up over fat people, because their weight negatively impacts the people around them. How often has a skinny person crowded someone's seat on a bus, or airplane, or taken handicapped spots, or made it hard to get around their fat ass? People get annoyed with fat people. They care about their weight because it gets in OTHER people's way.

do you really want them to waddle down the middle of the entire parking lot entrance at 0.3 miles per hour. At least handicap stickers allow them to only clog up the first 50 feet of the parking lot and not interfere with any more vehicular traffic than necessary.either that, or they'll sit in their car blocking up traffic until a parking space near the front opens up.

i feel like my posting in this thread is hypocritical, considering i was a sea walrus for 3-4 years.[Edited on February 13, 2010 at 3:07 PM. Reason : i guess i'm still a fatass, but whatever]

evan, about the time-limited spots, if you have the handicap placard, you can park in a time-limited spot for as long as you want for free (regardless of the rules/law).However, businesses in Raleigh have complained that there are way too many placarded cars hogging the spots all day. So they're going to be making some changes:http://www.newsobserver.com/news/traffic/story/304201.html?storylink=mirelated
