Long story short: Local newscaster comes in and buys service from me. 6 days later (conveniently within the 7 day return period) he cancels. I find out on Monday that he is doing a report on said service, which airs tonight at 6PM.My question is this: If he had a hidden camera on him when he came in and signed up for service, could he use that in the story without my consent? I'm not concerned about it because I sold the service by the book, just curious.

I already answered your question Now I'm curious as to1) Why you would think he can't2) Why you're so hung up on the answer to this question

I think they can probably use it as long as they are not charging people to view it?
2/18/2010 5:50:44 PM
i don't think he can't, and i don't think he can, that is why i am askingbecause i have seen similar hidden camera situations where they blur faces, so i assumed he would need my permission to use my face (which i would gladly give)[Edited on February 18, 2010 at 5:51 PM. Reason : a]

my lucky?
2/18/2010 5:53:33 PM
They will just blur your face, like all the shoes do....if it was by the book why the hell would he do a story on it? Was it a lemon that you sold to him and you made it sound like a mustang?
2/18/2010 5:55:17 PM
because it's a new product, so they are doing a report on it. from the commercials i have seen for the story, it looks to be positive.

it may have something to do with your place of business being considered a public forum, so the news has a right to publish (or air) public information and domain, including likeness, unless they stand to make a profit off of that likeness (which a news station really can't do).I'm not 100% sure on this though, and i'm no lawyer, but usually tv shows bleep out faces when they are for entertainment/reality show reasons... not newscasts. That said, sometimes a newscast will blur out faces either at the request of the subjects interviewed OR to cover their asses if it's a gray area.[Edited on February 18, 2010 at 6:02 PM. The story just hit the website so I assume it has aired:Triad Among Handful Of Communities To Offer 4G InternetGREENSBORO -- The latest way to use the Internet has arrived, and the Triad is one of only a handful of communities to have the new technology. The technology, known as 4G, promises customers the ability to have faster Web speeds at home, and on the go.The G stands for "generation", and boasts speeds five times faster than its 3G predecessor. But like other technologies that transmit data over cell phone towers, 4G service mileage may vary based on where the customer is located. Some students at Page High School off Cone Boulevard found the service to be spotty during a recent test, WXII reporter Bill O'Neil reported. But in downtown Greensboro, Simple Kneads Baker owner Jaime Barnett said the service was faster than the free WiFi service available downtown."I can’t imagine needing anything faster," Barnett said. "If the price is good, then I wouldn’t see why you would need anything else."Sprint, Intel, Google, Clearwire, Time Warner Cable and Comcast have teamed up to develop the technology. The service is available in the Triad from Time Warner Cable and Clearwire, which is changing its name to Clear, and is also available in the Triangle and Charlotte.Cost for the service varies, with the cheapest offered by Clearwire for $45 per month for unlimited service.Time Warner charges $39.95 for unlimited service, but it is only available to Road Runner customers who already pay for that service.Verizon is planning to offer its own version of the technology by the end of the year.
