You have so many beers to choose from. Fruity beers, Belgians, Lagers, IPAs, high gravity beers, Hefeweizens...the list is endless.

This Pyramid Apricot Ale is dedicated to YOU.

If you think Total Wine has a great beer selection then Sam's Blue Light would blow your mind.

Yeah, that actually makes me giggle bdmazur. Because I hate wine but I'll totally go there and create 2 or 3 of the Make Your Own 6-packs. That's what I did on Friday, when I came home with all sorts of fruity beers.

there are a lot of places with a much better beer selection than total wine.

some of these places are gas stations.

haha @ BevMo in north carolina

we're not nearly lucky enough to have a BevMo....or a private-run wine/beer/liquor store for that matter

College Beverage
Peace Street Market
Team Beverage (gas station)
Tyler's Bottle Shop

And, the best beer store in the Triangle, probably in NC: Sam's Quik Shop in durham.

do any of those places allow you to buy individual beers and make your own 6pack? cuz that's the most appealing thing to me at Total Wine.

yes, and you are not limited to 6.

you can make any integer based pack your liver desires.

well yeah, it's the same way at Total Wine. every individual beer has a price. you pick whatever you want.

no offense, but i don't see a gas station having the expansive selection that Total Wine has

32 or 64 bit?

I went to peace street market when i was a few weeks past 21. Guy told me I was 6' and not 5'11" like my license stated. Kind of...odd. First and last time anyone has ever noticed it being wrong.

At least you're right about something tonight.

That's because you have no idea what you're talking about. Sam's Quick Shop (also known as Sam's Blue Light) has over 1500 beers and it is a gas station. Also Total Wine overcharges you for the "privilege" of making your own 6 pack.

You obviously haven't been to any of the places bobby pointed out. Hell, peace street market probably has 300+ to choose from (at least they did when I was last there 3 years ago).

Total wine has like 1/2 of one aisle of beers.

Team Beverage may be able to compete with total wine, but Peace Street and College Beverage most certainly do not. They have more variety of malt liquor, but that's about it.

[Edited on March 7, 2010 at 11:50 PM. Reason : ^total wine has more floor space dedicated to beer than peace street has in its entirety]

My license is somehow 5" off from my actual height. No one has called me out on it yet, but I would say there is a pretty large difference in 6'-0" and 6'-5".

I'm going to agree on peace street being lacking. It is really good for a conv. store dont get me wrong. I just dont think it is as good as TW. Every visit over to peace street also helps the clutch industry out.

^

I actually F'd up getting my new one. Guy says "Does an inch really make a difference?" . hahahahaahahah

The only reason to go to Peace Street is for the entertainment value of being told your license is fake by a cashier that appears to be in the country on an expired student visa.

You're kidding right? There are 2 mini-aisles devoted to single beers available for Make Your Own 6-packs. Then there are at least 2 full aisles devoted to 4-packs and 6-packs.

I'm not gonna argue that these other "gas stations" don't have a better selection because I've never been there.

All I'm saying is, Total Wine has a great selection for me

Sam's Quik Shop is fucking incredible.

Total Wine's beer selection is severely lacking for an alcohol-specific store. I always go to Peace Street.

I really have no problem with Total Wine, and they do have a pretty good selection, they just don't have the best selection, at least not in North Carolina. Also, they shouldn't charge so much more for the privilege of breaking 6 packs but whatever.

Peace St. Market has the best beer selection in Raleigh. As far as wine goes, having more quantity doesn't mean it's a better selection. I'll take my wine store against Total in a fuckin Pepsi challenge any day of the week. If you're going to Total to buy loss leaders, you're getting a good deal; if it's one of their "house brands," you're paying WAAAY too much.

total wine is alright but like 50% percent of their shit is beyond expiration

and tw might have more quantity, but I've found better quality at peace street every time

sam's ftw though

i love how everyone on TWW posts their opinion as though it's the end-all-be-all of opinions

opinions are like assholes ya'll

and i like Total Wine's beer selection

i'm not inferior to any of you faggots simply because i like Total Wine

but it's OK if you wanna think i'm in an inferior faggot who doesn't know any better

bevmo is awesome, but to be fair only a select number of wines are part of the 5-cent wine sale (which is bi-annual, i think, and totally awesome)

can't comment on total wine or other beer-buying places in the triangle though... was quite pleased with ingles' beer selection in asheville when i was home over christmas...

very true - didn't mean to imply that they didn't have old stuff lying aroundn, just that they carry some cool stuff I've never found at tw

missing from this thread is 6-12 Market - pretty small selection but singles of anything in-store with no upcharge

seriously ya'll, up until a month ago, i was a strictly Miller Lite girl. that's all i ever drank.

the fact that i'm even branching out and buying something other than Miller Lite should result in a pat-on-the-back.

every time I've been to Peace Street or 6-twelve, I've had to dust off the bottles before I drank them. any argument about total wine having expired merchandise is just ignorant babble from people who want to knock a chain store.
