I'll drink Bad Penny on tap, and I seem to remember liking Angry Angel and another one of their beers, but it has been a while since I went on that tour

i can't think of anything better than going on a wonderful brewery tour around 2pm, then watching the State game at 5pm. i wish there were a website, from which I could obtain more information about Big Boss and its brewery tours.

sounds like the perfect Saturday to me!!!

Bad Penny tastes the same as Fat Tire to me, and I rather enjoy that.

I've been to that old house off of Atlantic Ave in Raleigh. It was a wee bit too 'hipster' for me. That isn't where the tour is, is it??

i don't know of a house...the tour is at the brewery off atlantic...on wicker dr.

the tours are usually over by 4 and they have TVs upstairs in the taproom for those of us interested in the game...

yeah, i mean...it's a big old warehouse...i've never really considered it or heard of it referred to as a house before but i think i can see what you're saying...

i wouldn't really consider the crowd "hipster" though...just a big mix

BB beer is mediocre at best.

that said, i wouldn't mind a brewery tour with some free samples.

yeah thumper, you sure you're talking about the same place? you got the location, but it's definitely a warehouse and i too would consider the crowd a blend and not primarily hipster

Big Boss is by far my favorite local brewery.

I'm at Horniblows nearly every Thursday night.

Blanco Diablo is on tap right now ... it's pretty good, but the best seasonal currently on tap is the D'Icer.

Neither hold a candle to Aces & Ates, though.

if there's a local brewer whose beer i actually enjoy, of course i'm gonna choose them over the more popular brands - simply because it's nice to support local brewers.

but i'm not gonna drink something i don't like in order to support them.

if you don't like the local brewery beers then don't buy them. it's simple really.

My friend and I used to play ping pong for hours every Thursday night about a year ago. I wonder if we ever ran into each other.

I like Big Boss's brown ale.

I like them a lot just because they are local. Well, they were local til I moved to Virginia, but it was cool to have a few local microbrews that made good shit when I lived in Raleigh.

[Edited on March 13, 2010 at 3:29 PM. Reason : I didn't think their beer was that bad. Different, sure, but it's tasty.]

why? do you support your local toilet paper manufacturers?

anyway, define local - neighborhood/city/county/state/country? just the closest one?

in that case, I'll open a brewery outside your house and you'll be compelled to always buy my shitty ass beer.

i support them because, regardless of which local brewer you pick, there's at least one of their beers i enjoy. so i buy them.

if they made nothing i liked, then i wouldn't buy them.

and I refuse to because of all their shitty beers I had to try before I gave up searching for that elusive single brew that tastes ~ok.
