got a loose tie rodrepair place quoted me $227 for the replacement + alignmenti can get the part for like $35 but i have nowhere to work on it nor a pullerfair-ish price? what say you?(i would have posted in the garage, but they scare me)

The last one I did took all of about 30 minutes including getting the tools out and putting them back up. The alignment was around $60. Different vehicles might have different requirements though, so I can't say how difficult it is on yours. Anything more than 1 hour labor + part + alignment seems overly steep to me. I'd call around.

if you can drive to asheboro i can do it for youreally just need a BFH, one of those separator things and a few sockets..not hard to do at all, even in a parking lot[Edited on March 18, 2010 at 8:14 AM. Reason : too early]

Evan, it all depends on what you drive. Some cars are painfully easy and take all of 20 to 30 minutes to do. Others, usually domestics, take special tools and wailing, weeping, and gnashing of teeth.227 isn't bad. You absolutely need an alignment when you have this done if you value your tires and your car's handling. Keep in mind that shops mark up the price of the part, as it's part of their profit margin.
